It seems the Co-operative Bank is like a form of free masons, your either in it, or your not.
I can appreciate it is frustrating for individuals being told one thing, then another, more so very worrying that a Bank employs advizors who don't even know what changes are occuring right in front of their noses.
The Web Site does state "Debit Card" on their Cash Minder account, it did used to say Visa Electron Card, but that has changed now, I can see that people would rather use a card that is more widely accepted, than a piece of plastic that has little or no useage.
I wish all those that are awaiting their Visa Debit Cards the best of luck, and hope for the sake of their customes needs, the co-operative get their fingers out, and re-educate their staff into the products that are available to customers, rather than just making it a random hit and miss affair.

Can anyone say whether I am likely to get an electron card (I want one) I am currently going through the process of opening a cashminder account purely to get this card as it's great for Ryanair bookings etc.

The Cooperative Bank no longer issue Visa Electron cards on any of there current accounts as of 12 June 2009.

Yes, I've read that, but had a letter today saying they will be sending an electron or visa debit soon. Also I specifically asked for electron when opening the account in branch. they assured me I'd get one, guess I'll just have to wait and see. I've applied at the Halifax as a fallback option though.

From what i can gather any cards ordered before a certain date not sure if its the 8th or 12th will get a visa electon. Any cards ordered after this certain date will get a visa debit card.

I think this is where the confusion is kicking in.

New Apps are telling everyone cashminder customers now get a visa debit card.

However there general telephone banking line seem to have little or no knowledge of the change over.

When my brother gets his replacement card which is meant to be the new visa debit ill let you know too.
