Ordered mine yesterday. Just said i lost the card. Anyone you speak to on the phone must know they dont issue visa electron anymore but they dont want us to have it just yet which is why i think they make it up as you go along. Although i had to get a cashminder account cuz of my credit history on this type of account. I have a current account with abbey now so fingers crossed they are not still scoring customers and giving out electron cards.

I will be so glad to have a proper card. No more feeling embrassed in front of friends with my plastic printed card or not been able to even buy a train ticket. Dont understand why every1 doesnt get visa debit or switch/maestro. Im sure its not difficult to bar you from having a overdraft and stop the cheque guarantee function. Who needs to guarantee a cheque now anyway? Nobody accepts them.

My brother got his new co op visa debit card today.

Its just same as his electon card however it says visa debit now.

When I say the same even the number down the middle of the card and the CV2 code on the back are the same.

Only difference is its now visa debit and embosed.

This is the leaflet that came with the card.

Hi stclair, if it has the same numbers ie still starts with 4508 will it be accepted at only the same places the original Electron was accepted? Bit confused at the moment, for instance could you pay for a ticket on a train> rather than having to buy at the ticket office?

Ok, see what happens! I was looking at Never- in-doubt's pics of his HSBC debit card with cheque guarantee and he also posted a card without the CG element and they seem to start with the same 4 digits?
    Think it's time I had a holiday:D

I was wondering the exact same thing, as Paypal's prepaid card says Visa Debit on it (although it is a flat card like an electron) and the first 4 digits come up as electron.

Maybe they are combining the electron and visa debit brands?
