Hi Everyone,
I've just had a conversation with Co-op and they are confirming that their new cashminder debit card is exactly the same as the electron and youWILL NOT
be able to use it at places that refuse electron - it is simply a name change and to get a full Debit Visa you have to have a full account!!!

Thanks Madmonk for that info, so all they have done is an aesthetic change to the card:o0 -
Exactly but they couldn't seem to understand that I felt it was a little bit of a con trick! Maybe I didn't get my point across - which was that I wanted a debit card that I could use everywhere that shows a Visa Debit sign which unfortunately this NEW Visa Debit card won't allow me to do! But the impression was given by the young lady I ordered it from and the accompaning leaflet that I would be able to do! Sorry I'm waffling!!!0

I agree my brother tried to use his new card today in the train station to buy a ticket and they wouldnt accept it.
It would appear to me it is an visa electron card still but branded as visa debit.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Just spoke to someone at the call centre who confirmed that the shops etc have to change their technology to recognise that the card is in fact a normal Visa Debit card now.
I work for a train operating company (On-Train) and haven't seen any of the cards yet being presented for payment.
What i might do is try and issue a ticket using my card and then refunding it again to see if the machine will accept it, unless anyone has tried using it on the train already?0 -

Erm the ticket office and the machines in the station didnt seem to like the card. My brother hasnt actually tired on the train its self yet that can be his next challenge lol I currently work for RBS and they are currently in the process of changing to the visa debit scheme. Retailers had until the end of May to ensure there equipment is ready for the change over. When I say change over I mean in the fact there cards will begin with 4XXX.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Unless the Co-op change the prefix of the cards from 4508 75, they will always be processed as Electron cards.
