Isn't 4917 not also a Visa Electron BIN?

My hubby has the Co op's Smile account with full Visa Debit Card and just checked; his number starts with 4988. So they may rectify it soon?

I have had exactly the same problem with A&L. It is a known problem across ALL all-auth cards - I have even had the FOS onto them about this.... have posted numerous times about it. It's to do with the chip on all-auth cards being programmed as a Visa Electron, and I pulled A&L up again recently when I used my card in TX Maxx and the receipt read 'Electron'
I dont think its to do with the BIN number, I think its more to do with the chip and what the card is programmed as? For example, OH has a £100 cheque guarantee card with A&L, BIN number 4567. Mine is one of the about as useful as chocolate fireguard 4659 ones - on some websites his comes up as Delta, mine as Electron. I would be very interested to know if the changing of the BIN number on the Co-Op cards makes them work differently, as if so I will take great delight in telling A&L finally where they can shove their Electron card!!! :rotfl:

I had to go on a DMP :( Was actually managing the payments ok on my EasyJet card but unfortunately I've not had as many weekends at work recently so my wages have gone right down and I just couldnt afford the payments in the end, so I went on a DMP end of April.

There is a number on the Chip called the AID and it is different for Visa Debit and Visa Electron, it will be on all chip and pin receipts.

Think Visa Debit is a few zero's then 31010 and electron is 31020 or maybe 32010 not sure which. Anyone have a receipt from the new co-op card to see which AID it is showing?

ah, it seems it is not just the BIN that is electron but the AID (application something or other) is also for an electron card.
