this is how they can afford to do it - by fleecing other people - not good companies to do business with.

no offence, but isnt this kinda obvious? I dunno - anything like this seems a bit of a risk to me. If a deal seems too good to be true...

Im sure some people win, but some have to lose for them to stay in business - ask yourself why you have to claim it back, if they were really giving away free cash wouldnt they just make it free in the first place!

Think Ill stick to the £10 a year I spend on PayG - now thats MSE!

  • Hey everybody

I too have been cheated by Mobile Addict / The Mobs - I am assuming that they are one and the same company unless someone can tell me otherwise.

As dollytinsle and looneyonthegrass have suggested - I have contacted BBC watchdog and my trading standards office.

Please let me know if there is any other advice.

    Many thanks
  • Please see below for the response I got from the trading standards officer. Seems all is lost. I will be going into my local 3 shop to talk directly to 3 using their number rather than the call center to try and resolve this or at least to reduce the remainder of the contract, RIP OFF UK RULES. Next thing you know they'll be taxing you for putting rubbish in your bin and for using the road to drive your car on!
I think I will email my MP next and try and get a change to the law, what say you?

    Re: Complaint 101801

Thank you for your enquiry concerning Mobile Solutions Online.

I've checked the status of the business on Companies House website and can confirm
that they have begun proceedings for voluntary liquidation.

The company director and secretary were ordered to appear at Leeds County Court on
28th November 2006 to sign an undertaking under the Enterprise Act brought by Leeds
Trading Standards. They failed to attend.

Unfortunately, unless there is a change in the law, consumers have little opportunity to
obtain redress once a company begins formal liquidation procedures. These procedures
ensure that financial institutions and other business creditors have priority over customers
during the realization of assets held by the company.

    Yours sincerely

  • Just had a really interesting chat with the call center (customer services). They offerred to downgrade the price plan for the remaining 5 months of the contract to £25 per month. Currently paying £35 but I have to pay a £25 admin fee! that means the stingy gits will save me £25 hoobloodyrah!
She also said that they do stop dealing with 3rd party suppliers who they receive complaints about. I said that that was great because people like me signed up for 12 months only to find that themobs go out of business, by the looks of it due to the fines that 3 wanted to levy against them for complaints, and I have no chance of getting the money back that I signed up for. I then said that at least one of the directors had started up again with a new company and that 3 would probably do deals with them in the future and loads more people would get stiffed. 3 may have the better deals but they sure know how to squeeze you dry and stiff you. The least they could have done was downgraded for free and to the lowest plan as a goodwill gesture. I'm still going into the local 3 shop to see if I can do any better. I'm thinking of mounting a protest outside the shop with placards and everything, this has really annoyed me.

Slightly off topic but on the theme of 3:

I've just signed our company up to a new phone tariff (landline).

Calls to O2, Vodafone, T Mobile and Orange are 8ppm, to 3... 18ppm!

Now 3's 'get paid to answer your calls' is put into perspective; i'd personally feel guilty for getting people to ring me at all!

  • Well as per my previous posts, I called 3 a month before my contract was due to expire and told them I wanted to cancel my contract on it's expiry date. They tried the usual crap to change my mind, but this man was not for turning. That was until they called the day before the expiry date and offered me an 18 month contract for £18. That's 500 minutes and 100 texts per month for £1. Nothing to pay for 17 months then a single payment of £18 in the last month. Well only a complete fool would turn that down. So given all the crap with TheMobs, I suppose things haven't turned out too bad after all. However, a valuable lesson has been learnt. I'm pretty sure those guys at TheMobs will get their come-uppance one day, what goes around often comes around.

Shouldn't a website show who is running the business?

On Go 4 Mobiles' site, I can't see anywhere what the company (I doubt it is anything else) is that is trading.... do they want to hide something....? :rolleyes2
