I would settle for no eye bags, forget the bright eyes and bushy tale bit.
Sorry rant over but it is by far the biggest disappointment of stopping drinking no weight loss and tired all the time etc.

You are probably more in tune with your body than ever. When drinking, you cannot hear it tell you it is tired!! Now you are AF, you listen to it.

Also, many people replace the booze calories with food calories, so they stay the same weight.
However, being AF has many benefits internally that you cannot see.

Thing with being AF is that we still have life's problems, it is just that being drunk is not one of those.
I thought when I stopped drinking that my career/love life/relationships with friends/etc would be amazing. As I was somehow 'owed' it by the huge sacrifice I was making by not drinking.
Nothing is further from the truth. If I want those things, I need to work at them. Nothing is handed to me on a plate. I work for things, and if I don't get them, then that is that and I have to accept it.
Being drunk is not going to help me get things in life, apart from misery, ill health, and chaos.

    Morning
I just want to send positive vibes to all those in need of TLC.
Orchid, I hope you are okay, moments like that really shake you up. Be good to yourself.
Jo - I think you are doing the right thing re OH. Got to take care of you and yours.
BB - Im a big believer in the sub-concious mind and I think that sometimes we wear ourselves down without knowing it. You are so kind and thoughtful. Give yourself more Self hugs.

I too have to admit to increasing the sugary sweet things in my diet. I guess my sugar levels when drinking are quite high and I'm trying to replicate it. Funny thing is when drinking I love savoury snacks. Certainly something to think about.

Another AF free night last night 8 in total. Just trying to think how much better I'd feel if I knocked the the nicotene on the head too.

I think it was Robert Downey Jr on Wossy a few years ago after a rehab stint said he'd stopped smoking, drinking and all caffeine intake he'd come out the other side and felt a natural high.

Hope you are all feeling better this morning.
    DC.

I'm feeling rather mixed about you saying that Budgie, coz I have had very little energy the last 3 weeks whilst having more AFDs and I'm finding it harder to fall asleep each evening although the quality of the sleep I get is much better.

My skin looks better, less spotty, but I still have huge dark circles under my eyes. I have loads I want/ought to do but for example last evening I just felt too tired. I am feeling quite up and down emotionally. I've been putting it down to not feeling so numb and trying to be patient with the process but you're months ahead of me. I have been pleased with the diet as I'm sure part of the tiredness thing is getting used to the lack of sugar flooding my body.

I have had good news about an interview that might lead to a job. Instead of being pleased and excited I feel down. Not sure whether I'm down at the idea of getting rejected for another job I want or down at the idea of getting the job. It's a long commute and will leave me job hunting again early next year which may not be that easy then either. All in all I want to stay in bed today.

Sorry for the downer of a post everyone!

    Morning all!!

Seems a few of us are going through the wringer in one way or another the last couple of days!

Budgie - Poor you!! Take it easy. Hope you are feeling much better soon!

Orchid - as mother to a VERY energetic and sometimes unruly 3 year old I can completely understand where you are coming from. It was only last week I was shouting at Adam in Boots car park as he tried to run off without me. Its absolutely terrifying. ((hugs))

Different_corner - go for it on the nicotene!!! My mum and Dad gave up 8 years ago and say it was the best thing they ever did. Go on, go on...you know you want to!

Jo - Don't blame you for speaking to your doctor about OH. I would do the same in your position.

Fay - snap - I'm blind as a bat too! In Junior school they tested my eyes (they did in those days) and rang my mum to come and collect me as they didn't think I was safe to walk home on my own!!!

Phew! I don't know how Budgie does it!!:rotfl:

    Almost forgot....40SM - 7 for me please!!!!

Well me and Piglet are still full of cold. Both coughing in the morning like nobodies business! And there was me thinking I'd be healthier taking this Berocca!!!:rotfl:

No alcohol for me last night or tonight. Last night I saw a programme that started at 9pm and wondered why I never normally get to see things like that. Then I realised its cos I'm normally asleep by then after downing a bottle of wine! Saw an interesting programme last night about childrens sleeping problems and tonight it will be "Mary, Queen of Charity Shops". Never realised before there was life past 9pm!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Piglets nursery day today. Thankfully his conjunctivitis has cleared up so they'll have him back. Don't think they worry about a bit of snot!:rotfl::rotfl:

    Catch up later

    Miss P

Don't be sorry WBF. One of the things I love about this thread is you can come on here when feeling down and there are people that understand. Sorry to hear you are feeling low. Try and have an easy day...do things to treat yourself, have a big bubble bath with candles, immerse yourself in a good book. Go for a tramp across some fields. Anything that YOU enjoy doing.

WBF, hugs to you my dear. I know for me personally it will take a good few months to feel brighter as I did quit for 4 months a couple of years ago and it took a while back then. It is worth waiting for, don't become despondent. I'm wondering if there are inner worries you have about getting this job? Why are you going for it if it means a long commute and no job in 6 months time? If you don't mind me asking of course  is the money amazing or something? I think you need to write a pros and cons list of everything you can think of that will change or become better or worse should you get the job and take it from there. Sometimes we do things without thinking it through properly (not saying for one minute you are of course!).

I hope the day cheers up for you, come back and have another rant if it doesn't, we've got broad shoulders :D
