    Fay,

I did a job I hated for 20 years because the money was good. After about 14 years voluntary redundancy was offered every year until finally in my 20th year I was brave enough to take it.

Absolutely kicking myself now for completely wasting a horrible 20 years of my working life when I could have been 'living' instead of existing. If I had known that life was still Ok on less money I should have left in the first week!

In fact I would go as far as saying life now (even with the alcohol problem) is much much better than what it was then.

Hind site is a wonderful thing.

What I am trying to say is don't let your work rule your life just for a few quid. I was a technical officer doing research work and on a big wage. Now I earn less than a 1/3 of what I was cleaning school toilets  and wouldn't change it for ten times the wage. Money is not everything, but it took a long time to realise it.

I will shut up now :o .... just don't want you to suffer with work needlessly ;)

    BHBxx

    HI BHB

Its worse than that - I am a phd student - pays carp :0

Prob is I love what I do but to be honest I work with an aboslute idiot - who's making my life hell.

And because of my lack of self esteem now and his daily telling me how carp i am and how carp my writing is - I am almost dun with it all - so I do thinkyou are right about the 'do something you love' - I am but to be honest maybe single mums and phds dont mix.

The worse thing is they don't critise my about the technical content of my experiments, just my lack of abitlity to write

Hugs to you -- I am considering jacking it in quite seriously life you are right is too short to be sat crying over willow - but I do love my project.

Got rid of the evil boss for a few days so I am going to get sorted out here and try and catch up without his distractions

    Hugs to you

    and brrr to swimming pools
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Oh and just to clarify: The Full Monty is going for the 100%, the goal, in short: The Full Monty ;) nothing to do with taking off your clothes  Perish the thought ;)

Any questions feel free to ask?

    Hope that helps?

Ps Fay hugs sweetheart and life is too short to be unhappy, problem is we stay long after we know we should of left. You will do what is right, you know in your heart what this is? Stay true to yourself and most of all be happy :) Lots of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Keyboard has recovered, thankfully. Think life without t'internet would be tougher than life without alcohol!

All confused because I normally watch Britain's Got Talent on a Saturday night with a drink and tonight I've got coffee. Wine bells tolling very loudly but Budgie's already notched me up an AF day for today so I won't crack (I wouldn't dare!!).

Hopefully the 'talent' will distract me, although with DJ Talent kicking off the show I'm not so sure...

    xx

Decided to have a drink after all, so not AF BB. I have a plan to be AF tomorrow, we are out for lunch with friends and OH will be delighted if I volunteer to drive. Wednesday I was going to have a drink watching Champions League final and then go out with non-drinking friends on Thursday. That's the plan...

I understand how you feel fay about your crap manager but won't you be disappointed with yourself if you give up your PhD? How much longer do you think it's going to take?
