  • I am sure you could manage perfectly well with all of these suggestions, but have you thought of using your local free-cycle for a replacement oven. I use this frequently and have posted both, wanted and offered notices with success.

Arggghhh don't believe this just after posting on this thread went to do some baking with DD1 and my oven has packed up as well.
Luckily OH has some overtime due on 17th and as it is a separate hob to the oven it makes it slightly cheaper. Just annoying as the OT was going away towards crimbo.

We don't have a hob, just a microwave but I can recommend Sainsburys ready meals, they're 4 for £3 at the minute - the Spag Bol, Chicken curry and Lasagne especially are scrummy!

Ended up getting a new oven. We know a good local supplier who does electrical goods -washers/fridges/driers/ovens etc.
He sells new/slightly damaged/reconditioned items at good discounts.
Ended up with a samsung which new is going for 400-500 on other websites/shops for £199, with a 2 year guarantee. It is new but he got it as a reject from a warehouse as there is a small dent on the side . Works perfectly and my muffins cake out perfectly hurrah!

Best thing about this supplier is the customer service. When we had a recon drier just outside the 12 month guarantee he still replaced for free. Sister had a washer which was 4 yrs old from him, when she rang to ask what he had in stock he offered to send the engineer around to fix it. They fitted a recon motor and had it running again for under £50 within 48 hrs, can't beat that lol.

As long as you don't want to bake bread or cakes or roast meat then you can do it all on the hob with a frying pan and some saucepans.

I haven't had an oven for over 6 months, the only thing I miss is baking muffins.

What do you like to eat?

You'll find it easy peasy when you stop worrying!

Pasta, rissoto (or pealla or kedgeree), stews, soups, curries, pan friend/grilled meat with veg in the steamer! I could go on and on, but it would be a very, very long list. :)
