  • My saga continues. I was promised on Aug 16th that everything would finally be sorted. I was to get a £30 refund by cheque within 14 days along with a letter detailing the account closure. As of yet, I am still waiting. At least they managed to knock off the amount from the June bill but I am still "due" £35. My next billing date is the 9th, if they raise another bill on that date then I will be taking this to the next level.

Well, after I posted that I was phoned by TT and again promised that this would come to an end. Just logged into "my account" (which incidentaly the guy reckoned he had disabled) and yet another bill has been raised. Somehow the amount "owed" from last month has now been wiped out again but I am billed £30.49 for this month. Funny how they seem to be able to do that but not actually close the account.
  • You can ring TT on there direct line to cancellations on 01925 556 486 but I don't know what good it'll do as I've rang it twice and every time the person says there is no record of my previous call, but it's worth a try and it's a normal number not the 0870 number you usually have to ring the line seems to be open between 8am and 6pm only hope this help's T

Pls be nice to all MSer's
There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.
Tomorrow never come's as today is yesterday and tomorrow is today:confused:

As TT seem to be very underhanded by denying you've rung them before then I'd cancel via email (all known email address including the one we have for Charles Dunstone himself) and via snail-mail as well (recorded delivery).

Anything discussed verbally can easily be denied and although TT state they may record calls, they can just as easily state that on this occasion they didn't record the call so therefore no proof.

For those unfortunate ones stuck with TT then see hurrah's post here, and from it I quote:-
Many of its broadband customers have given up and taken their business elsewhere, and Talk Talk said that anyone who does decide to cancel before their go-live date will not have to pay the £70 cancellation fee
  • Long story but I canceled my Talk Talk telephone account back in May(after 3 month trial) still had BB with them as I understood I would have to wait until following Feb when my 12 month contract would be up.

In July TT disconnected my broadband without telling me, when I contacted them they couldn't give me an explanation but offered to reconnect me, I said I would like to leave and asked for MAC code.Waited for weeks before they finally told me I didn't need one. One. After dozens of calls I was then told I would have to pay leaving fee, I said I didn't care, just wanted to leave.

Had a bill from them today which says my monthly BB payment will be taken automatically from my account on 12th September. After several more phone calls and being cut off the lady said she would credit me with last payment which was taken out on 14th August and send me by email a disconnection form.

I have had my BB with Primus since 16th August. Apparently although I'm with Primus I'm still with TT:confused: and paying for both!

I have never had such bad service from a company, I'm feeling so angry after speaking to them, just had to let of steam. The worst thing is being told so many different things each time they put me through to someone else and then after being put through to the 3rd person I was cut off and had to go through the whole story again. To be honest even I'm getting confused myself now.

should I cancel my DD and wait for a final bill and pay by cheque?

Well...just come off the phone from talktalk yet again as I have not received the disconnection e mail.

The gentleman assured me that he had now put through a 2nd disconnection request just to be on the safe side and that I would be getting a letter of confirmation in the post. He said I didn't need to cancel my DD as this would be done automatically. Think I'm going to cancel it myself though and if necessary do as Rachel says and send a cheque 'under duress', if necessary.
He also asked for my new providers name.

I'm not expecting it all to go smoothly although this time he sounded more positive. I used the number for the car phone warehouse 0800 049 0049. option 2 given by Sean Rudenko (thanks Sean) and got through after only few rings.

Well the saga continues....I did cancel my direct debit and this week received a letter from TT. They have tried taking payment and were unable to do so, this has left an overdue payment owing on my account. Told to reinstate my dd within 30 days to avoid suspension of my TT services. What services? I don't have broadband with TT!

I phoned them on Monday and told them that infact they owe me money. When the gentleman checked he said that they owed me £43.98. He then put me on hold for ages and eventually got back to me and said that a credit for £43.98 had been raised and to phone back in a weeks time to request a cheque.

    When will it all end?

Thats a bit of a swizz, having to ring up a gain to request a cheque. Surely they should send one straight out.

Well you would think so but anything is possible with this company, I've just sent e mails to 3 different talk talk addresses asking for written confirmation that my account is now closed and that I don't owe them any money (they owe me) but after reading so many posts on here about similar problems I'm not very hopeful.

I'm normally the last person to complain about anything but I've never known anything like this. The most frustrating thing about it is not being able to understand the call center and them not really understanding me........

    Good News.....

After sending an emails detailing all my complaints, had an email from Simon Rawlings followed by a telephone call today apologising and stating that my account has been finalised and that a cheque would be in the post.
  • After several months of mither and even a court date with a credit collection agency.....

One letter from Trading Standards seems to have stopped it all.

They are a bunch of incompetent w@nkers who verge on the criminal and i urge everybody who reads this to steer well clear of Talk Talk.

Do you have this person's email address, as it seems like he may be the only person in the whole of Talk Talk who actually knows how to do his job?

Also - as I've been told by Talk Talk to "ignore these bills - they will be waived" - does anyone know if Talk Talk are going to be reporting to credit reference agencies that I'm not paying my bills?

  • I had huge problems with Tiscali as a phone provider when I tried to cancel (see forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=310834). I joined UkOnline from a recommendation here and they have been excellent. I recommend them highly. They are the cheapest that I have seen, and offer very good service.
