    Hiya

Might sound like a funny question but paying off my loan at the end of the month to settle it early. Will this have a positive impact on my credit score? It will be my first settled account so interested to know what it will do for me.

    Cheers :)

Simply paying each month has a positive impact on your file. I don't think it matters too much if you settle the loan early or not. As long as you've continued the payments and not missed any. Having a settled loan on your credit file will show lenders your capable of borrowing money and you stuck to your repayments commitment.

Went into my NatWest branch today to deposit a cheque and left with another savings account. Now I have 4.

The cashier said to me.. "oh why not open a First Reserve savings account. You'll get your own card so you can easily withdraw money from the cash machine. It will save you the trouble of transferring money from your ISA to your current account". I was like.. meh, I guess.

Now I've got even more determination to save. I hate my accounts being empty so I'll have to fill that with money.

I'm saving as much as I can for a large and expensive purchase next June.

I got a letter from Halifax this morning saying they are increasing my credit card interest rates from 19.9% to 22.9%. Not a significant increase but it's an increase all the same.

I got a letter from capital one saying that they are increasing my interest rate from 30.34% to 39.94%. I going to pay off my balance and not use that card again but might leave it open because its my longest credit card history.
  • Hi there,

Are you and your partner financially linked? I ask because a default is very bad news.....

If you want to go mainstream try https://letmechoose.barclaycard.co.uk/ this will let you know the likelyhood of you being accepted for a barclaycard. It will carry out a soft search on your callcredit file and base its decsion on that.

Good luck and let us know how you get on

Not true mate - they soft search CallCredit and then if you proceed to apply, you then see they will search their preferred provider, Equifax (i.e. a full credit search unlike the marketing comparison quote on CallCredit)...

If you look at the thread the above link came from, you'll see my arguing that on page one of the thread mate.... :D

LOL, hope your holiday was well.

I meant that the pre-app check will base its decsion on your callcredit file. Not the actual app :-)
