    Hi all,

new to the thread really interesting readin!!!!!! am thinking bout applying for credit card, went bankrupt june 04 discharged december 04,

any thoughts?? didnt really want the vanquis card but guess not very likely to get mainstream??

had exceleent credit history since bankruptcy and have had next account running fine for couple of years

    Cheers

    :o

Dont underestimate what Vanquis could do for you.If you just plan on paying off the balance in full every month thus avoiding paying interest,in 12 months time you could well be back on the mainstream ride.

    Afternoon!

Just received today my new Aqua card with 250 quid limit. Not much but hopefully will increase in a few months.

Also received today a letter from Barclaycard in response to my appeal. They kindly apologise but still say no.

It just took five minutes to activate the Aqua card and no sales pitch or the like. The lady simply mentioned card care and I said no before she finished it. She didn't insist on anything else.

She also arranged DD payments for me.

And... 19 days and counting on for my Vanquis application response.

Good luck with Vanquis - I'd be very suprised if they say no after Aqua said yes, Aqua are much more strict!

Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

I know, but Aqua only accepted me after an appeal, not in the first instance.

On the other hand both Capital One and Barclaycard turned me down even after appealing.

For what I've read here, no news is googd news when it comes to Vanquis, but it is 20 days now since I applied and haven't heard from them. I read another post today from someone who applied yesterday and received the acceptance call today.

Ive not had the Capital One letter yet - wondering how long!!! Lol. I pay off in full by DD every month so it wont bother me too much, but (hiopefully) when my limit goes up it will sting me as I will have to revert to min payment - £100 per month isnt a problem but anything over that will struggle to do in full.

I have now appealed to the Head Office for them to look into it to see if they will reconsider it...I agree it is quite surprising i was turned down, and perhaps on their system, i still have the account marker laid down somewhere. I take it you have taken out a managed loan yourself and had problems getting credit once loan's paid off with HSBC?

I worked for HSBC in the past, I'm sorry that they did this to you, the managed loan is just another way of trying to tie you to them once they have cold feet at further lending!
