You'll just have to try hard. With that amount of searches, no doubt any application will be declined and that'll be another worthless search added.

By this time next year, you could have a wallet full of main stream cards with nice limits and 0% deals... and that'll give you plenty of time to clear your subprime cards, so you can ditch them when the main stream start rolling in.

I don't have nearly as much searches as you. I think I only have roughly about 5-6 but that is still too much for my liking. I'm holding off until my Vanquis is marked as settled on my file before applying for another main stream. I was about to apply for an HSBC bank account but closed the page when I reached the last stage of the application.

I'm hopefully off to university next september, so I'll be skint and staying away from the main-stream cards. Hoping for a nice overdraft and student credit card though. :p

In my personal opinion, I'd stay away from any sort of overdraft, whether it's interest free or not. I've always hated overdrafts.. they are good for when your running out of money and need some cash.

But if you max out your overdraft, it's a vicious circle of paying it back. Your student loans will get paid into the account and clear the overdraft, then you'll be left with no money and have no choice but to eat into the overdraft again, maxing it out during that month. And the vicious circle starts.

It could be difficult getting out of the overdraft unless your excellent at budgeting and managing your finances. That's the only reason why I've NEVER had an overdraft. Once your into the overdraft, it is difficult to get out of it.

Stick with credit cards. At least you can pay the minimum each month and you'll still have all of your cash freely available in your bank account.

mmmmm about 15 in the last 6mths:o

I did have a default,it is due to come off this month with the Halifax, and a partial settlement that just came off last week.Three late payments marked on my Vanquis card last year, now upto date.

    Vanquis £1250

    Capitalone £1500

    Littlewoods £1200

    Very £800

A couple of weeks ago I applied for a Visa debit card at the RBS and got a Visa debit highline 100 and chequebook,no overdraught though.

I had been with the HBOS for 8yrs and they kept declining me from an upgrade from their Electron card, probably because of my default with the Halifax years before;)

I did apply for Flybe card back in Feb but got declined,so things must be on the up for me now.Just have to remember too keep my fingers off the apply button for a while now:rotfl:
