If I had a high value phone like an iPhone I would always take out some form of insurance. Are you sure the loss is not covered by your home contents insurance?

No I called them today, worst thing is, I get free phone insurance with my bank, I 'registered' it in May when I got the iPhone, yet they didnt at their end (incompitent staff/admin error - who knows) - and now I am not covered! So annoyed!

They put through the claim still, so as it appears, a day after phone was lost/stolen I took out insurance and put in a claim....

Its stuff like one touch access to email with all account details in it for catalogues etc, then click facebook app, voila, access to my facebook! Worst feeling ever! First phone I lost in about eight years!

I know. I'd be completely lost with my iPhone. It is essentially my personal assistant.

Hopefully some kind generous citizen will call you saying they've found your phone.

Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

I decided to open a Barclays Monthly Saver (4.24% if you make no withdrawals, 3% if a withdrawal is made), so I went into a Barclays branch this morning. I also applied for a current account as it's needed for online access.

The lady was very helpful and applied for the Barclays Bank Account, however she said ''Have you applied for a lot of products recently'' I replied yes and she said that I'd been declined because of this.

She opened me a Young Persons Account for under 19's and said that this would change to a Bank Account when I hit 19 in 2 months. She advised me to stop applying for credit. :rotfl:

I'm going to transfer £300 to the Barclays current account when I get paid on the 15th, and the SO for the monthly saver is set to come out on the 16th for £250. The extra £50 will just be kept there for a rainy day or if my HSBC debit card is ever declined, I can use the Barclays one.

Anything else I have left at the end of the month will be put into my HSBC ISA...

Sound like a good plan? :p

That's what I like to see. Savers.

I have 3 savings accounts and I'm always putting money in there. Forgoing my luxuries so I can topup my savings. I prefer saving for purchases more than £1000, and using the credit cards for anything less.

Hold off the Apply button though. If you're being declined because of too many searches, then you're making yourself look bad. :p I'm addicted to that nasty evil Apply button but mints usually helps during the cravings. :rotfl:

I haven't used credit cards in a while now. I had 3 (vanquis, aqua and capitalone) and had them all maxed out, owing nearly £750!!! I paid them all of, and closed aqua and vanquis. I now just have capitalone at £200 limit with £0 balance. I haven't used the card in a month or two though. I will put something small on it sometime next week to keep it active.

I'm addicted to the apply button as well, but it's got terrible now and I've realised I must stop, but I keep thinking 'as I already have 52 searches, 1 more is going to make no difference' and therefore I never get anywhere.

I need to stop applying though. I have no reason to apply for anything else now either. I have a credit card, two bank accounts and a small overdraft with HSBC.

I did have this problem about having money scattered around in different accounts, but I've realised it's better to have money sitting there, earning some interest, then nothing.

You'll just have to try hard. With that amount of searches, no doubt any application will be declined and that'll be another worthless search added.

By this time next year, you could have a wallet full of main stream cards with nice limits and 0% deals... and that'll give you plenty of time to clear your subprime cards, so you can ditch them when the main stream start rolling in.

I don't have nearly as much searches as you. I think I only have roughly about 5-6 but that is still too much for my liking. I'm holding off until my Vanquis is marked as settled on my file before applying for another main stream. I was about to apply for an HSBC bank account but closed the page when I reached the last stage of the application.
