just wondering aloud - could this decision push three into the red ?
if enough people cancel, as it seems is happening, could they have problems ?
or does the mobile broadband prop them up to a degree ?0 -

Many people aren't as savvy or proactive as the people you find on these boards, the 3 call centre staff have been well trained to lie to and/or verbally bully anyone who isn't totally sure of their right to cancel. I expect their actual customer losses because of this are quite low.0 -
Very interesting, diamonds. Several companies seem to have gone bust recently who, well lets say aren't known for great customer service (ahem, tiscali, setanta). Looks like 3 might be heading the same way...
3UK & 3AU cost Hutchison Telecom/HWL billions - none EVER turned a profit, collapse or selling of 3UK is coming, a merger cannot happen as offloading a 3G licence means writing of billions paid for 3G licence ! Hutchison UK/3UK paid almost 5 billion for their 3G licence...OOOPPSS!
Merge AU division with nearest rival...Voda AU, spectrum licences in AU are regional due to land mass, the opposite of UK, so no merger here in UK, OFCOM approval means disposal of licence which = more competition than now in UK.
Would not amaze me if 3UK are running 3UK into the ground where its debts can no longer be sustained by 3's parent companies and closure comes from administration. It has cost 3UK over £20 billion to survive so far, that has not came from within 3UK to finance that, head office Hong Kong/HWL has subsidised 3UK - lack of customer care in 3UK ruined what is a GREAT product with now average priceplans for the UK market, 3UK are no longer leading or near the competition if you discount Skype/MSN which most 35+ olds do, most want more than basic phones with a nice screen & competitive priceplans, example:
A decent mobile, unlimited landlines a few hundred texts/mins on Orange = £20, on 3 Mix ur Sticks its £27 for 700 "units" with below average Orange phones on 3UK, who you gonna choose ? really ? Orange are the only network whom can give you a signal using wifi where no signal exists aswell, include free calls with magic numbers/your group, you will never use Skype or MSN on a pc let alone a mobile. Marketing yourself to under 30's when over 30's is where the money is at is senseless...thats 3UK.
Sorting out 3 Like Home "problems" would have been easy given what we customers were told....remove all other networks from roaming in countries where 3 sister companies are/manual selection built in to menu options when roaming - if you roamed on another network YOU choose to.
As for 3UK costs to 3 sister networks - 3 Global could have made sisters swallow the minimal costs until 3UK made profit- "simples".
3 as a product has so much hope, just not under Hutchison/HWL management.
Setanta went ? lol news to me !SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -

3 are £20 billion+ in the red since 3UK's launch in 2003 !
3 UK have had problems in every part of business, the management.
Broadband loses 3 money & all the others thats why over your allowance is so expensive per MB - its about converging now.
The data capacity & volume where 3/T-Mob through its 3rd party company outsource data to another company ( BT ) where it loses money, T-Mobile made a MASSIVE mistake covering 50% of 3's backhaul data costs through a joint venture...now T-Mob are £1.5 billion in red, the new joint company has loads to do with that profit loss.
3's dropping o2 for Orange was a MASSIVE oversight considering o2 is a solid network on half the transmitting frequency of Orange UK's signal...ie signal penetration is much much better on o2. 3 took a hissyfit after o2 tried to UNSUCESSFULLY sue 3UK, toys and prams come to mind :rotfl:
I suspect 3UK's 2G roaming next time the contract is up will go to Vodafone, Vodafone UK Ltd will end up getting owned by the VHA merger company in AU.....get round regulation that way
That's if 3UK last that much longer.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
I doubt a few readers of this forum cancelling will have any effect on them. Three will have considered the reaction of customers and calculated that they wouldn't loose too many before removing 3 like home.

I disagree, word of mouth....."cancel free & keep my phone ?"
If the average early termination fee is £500, thats £1 million per 2000 3UK customers leaving.
As for lying well yes, that with ever other thing 3 Global India customer do ( or rather dont do ) just damages 3's brand, something 3 are good at.
Damage to 3UK by India is beyond repair now most people leave as soon as possible. Only GREAT UK care that outshines the other poor customer care networks can save 3UK now, they dont have the cash/funds to set up & run it though ! Shame really - fantastic product BUT pish poor management.
Most people with 3 are now the savvy consumers who know 3UK will change T&C (as they always do) & these people benefit by leaving FEE FREE with a subsidised handset, between hotukdeals & mse how many have left 3UK, came back as soon as they could & left again on another T&C then again....its ongoing....3UK are losing millions to these savvy consumers through as usual 3UK's poor management structure to spot faults with the superior CARE/service/product 3UK believe they provide. Over confidence can KILL, in business 3UK prove that.
Executive Office read this thread one told me.......they are ware of hotukdeals & mse, shame they dont email martin & become a OFFICIAL rep for 3UK, but then 3UK like other UK telco's are COMPLETELY POOR at communication. AU customer care in telco's is far superior than UK customer care - all 5 should be ashamed, OFCOM complaints CODE OF CONDUCT, try easily find that on any of the big 5's websites - they are all signed upto it, its just not transparent for customers.
Keep cancelling everyone, the penny ( billions of them ) will drop at one point.....prob when PriceWaterCoopers start writing to remaining customers.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You have a point there diamonds. For everyone who's actively posted here how many have silently read and acted? And how many more have heard through word of mouth as you say. Speaking of which I was telling a friend on 3 all about this and what to do a week or so ago.
Just had a thought; if 3 really do go under, what will happen to our existing contracts? Can we keep the phone and end the contract again.Might be worth taking a gamble and signing up again lol.
And setanta hasn't quite gone yet, but is in the process of going into admin atm. Happened yesterday I think.0 -
Another happy customer here
Have just cancelled my contract. I told them as I am going travelling next month (a wee lie there) this would be of detriment to me. They offered me £20 credit, then told me that Skype to Skype calls are free which is just wonderful for travellers like me...then they asked if I couldn't just give the contract to a family member as it was a shame to waste all my loyalty points (????)
I stood firm and I now have a lovely PAC code sitting in my inbox.0 -

I know at least about 80 people that I sent off in a chain of command so to speak through word of mouth, only a few had a few months remaining - most had long contracts = loads'a'mon£y ! ( LOL I did find that maggie thatcher inspired greedy "before his time" chav most funny indeed ! )
Take a contract with 3 ? are you mad sir?, perhaps maybe take a business one where customer care is UK based. I had no problems on my 3 business account.
Googled after posting, oh hell well if you will give bad service you expect to not exist ? whats with chief exec's refusing to follow that simple rule of business ?
3 may well have gone under already Rev - the website is offline LOLSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -

Fantastic result, seems like you were not the only one with a "wee lie" in the house, using Skype abroad is NOT free.......it was on 3LH but hey that's gone now.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... I feel I should just mention - I'm only 3 months into an 18 month contract so this should work for anyone0
