I have read through all of this with interest, I got the text which mentioned being able to cancel last week.
I rang 3 today & although the call took half an hour with most of it listening to music I got the PAC code & deflected all attempts to get me to stay, they knew that I had used the 3LH service. If I had been happy with everything else I would have been tempted to stay but so far I generally have little or no coverage & keep being told that a new mast will be activated in a couple of months, after a couple of months the date has magically become another three months. They changed the handset as they thought that may have been an issue, it obviously was not as the problem is still there 7 the new handset is very poor - Sony Ericsson C902.
Despite this it is the only handset I have got & would like to get it unlocked so I can use PAYG sim until I decide on a new contract. I was told by the guy who gave me the pac code that I could ring back for the unlock code today. After 4 calls lasting over 2 hours in total I have now been told that I cannot have the unlocking code until after I have transferred the pac code to a new contract! It seems to stem from the fact that they have not updated my handset on the system but now they are denying that & saying it is a technical issue related to the ERF issue & until a manager has waived that the phone cannot be unlocked. I have tried ringing back & even speaking to a manager but for the very first time ever they all seem to be singing from the same hymnsheet! They told me the cost of the unlock code & said it had been created but that they could not give it to me.
Has anyone else experienced the same or know a way around this?
Thanks

Just would like to note i've been on hold to cancellations for 35 minutes and counting ..
my phone is plugged into the mains so I could be in for a long one ...
*edit*
42 minutes before I got through. spoke to the operator who tried very hard to interrogate me about my reasons and I quoted the text message to her from 3 that said I had a right to cancel and she said that i did have the right to cancel, so i said to her firmly, but politely, "with the greatest of respect, if 3 are permitting me to cancel this contract due to this change then that is what I want to do so please process my request".
She agreed and it's done. Just waiting for my PAC code to come through (fingers crossed ....)0 -
I have just been through the same hassles, but have accepted their £5 loyalty discount, which now gives me a monthly bill of £13 on Mix&Match 500.
I couldnt find a better deal with another provider, & coupled with their special 10p roaming charge within the island of Ireland(which will start at the end of the month, & end early 2010), I have decided to stay with them for the remaining 8 months of my contract......Then I,ll see what else I can get from them for staying!!!!

Just a note to say that I managed to cancel my contract without ever having to speak to an operator. I sent them an e-mail a week or two again saying that I wanted to cancel and why. They called my mobile and home phone about 20-25 times but I didnt answer mobile and was 'not at home' when they rang the house phone.
So I am finished with the contract on 3rd of July which is only a few weeks before my original contract end date but it was good to be able to get out early.0 -

Not that it really matters to anyone else but I think there are better deals out there than what I had.0

The new 3 price guide is out now, dated June 2009, but it seems I'm not allowed to link to it. I've been a member for a while now!
Anyway, they've removed the page in the price guide about 3 like home, but clumsily forgotten to remove the reference to it on the International page! On the website they've announced a new thing they're doing with 3 Ireland, where it'll be 10p per minute to make and receive calls with the UK, and 10p to send text messages. Not exactly a replacement for 3 like home where it came out of your allowance though! And it'll be 10p per MB of data too. Meanwhile, nothing announced for other past 3 like home countries or the rest of Europe...0 -
seems to be fine now, its got the new payg options on there
great for low users £5 top up gives 25 texts, 150mb skype & msn messenger all valid for 3 months....this is more like the great deals 3 started out with in 2003....hopefully contracts will pick up something to compare with other UK plans.
I almost never understand why 3 does not have £3 add ons you can do month to month & payg you can rebuy when they run out, you know.....
unlimited 3-3
333MB of data
333 landline calls
?
Besides until 3 have decent UK care I will never return, many ex 3's I know feel the sameSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0
