Well if you didnt save a copy of the 2008 T+C's then you have no proof they changed anything, Which I doubt they did. And I agree with robt, They havent done anything wrong.0

I have the price guide and I have the main 3 services T&Cs from June 08. I don't have the separate 3 like home terms from that time, though I do remember reading the pages about 3 like home and have no recollection of seeing anything about it being time limited. Currently scouring the wayback machine to see if I can retrieve an old version of those terms.0 -

I don't think that will stand up in court somehow
Good luck with Wayback Machine. I doubt you will find anything though - and even if you do would it be accepted as evidence?0 -
I'd suggest you all read through this thread:

The two cases bear striking resemblance. I wouldn't put it past 3 to be sneakily changing T&Cs, as many people said on that thread, so stick to your guns OP and let us know.
Your point about CPW I do understand, I've been there and done it myself with a much smaller and dishonest company (mobile rainbow/MSols), but cashback cases such as those were much more clear cut than this.0 -

Well, seems like I have to eat humble pie. Finally found a version of the separate "3 like home" terms from before June 08 (Oct 07 in fact) and one line in the small print does say they can withdraw the service. It's not mentioned anywhere else on the site though which is probably why I missed it.

So I am in the wrong. I think I'll just have to eat the £150 early termination fee. The random call drops (my other main reason for wanting to leave) are just too annoying to ignore.
I just wish customer services were well enough trained to simply tell people they can't cancel because 3 reserved the right to withdraw the service instead of all the unnecessary rubbish they did tell me..0 -
Come on guys. I've said this on the other thread...3 Like Home is a free "additional service" to your existing contract. You can't argue it will have a detrimental effect on you unless you've paid for such a service and it costs you to use in the first place. Its not included in your plan in the same way as minutes/text/3 to 3 calls, this forms your "price plan" and is what 3 provide as part of their basic service to you. Any variations to those will have a detrimental effect to you, i.e. increase in call/text costs.
Additional services like roaming & 3 Like Home are consider optional premium services and are not enabled by default on your account. You need to active it before you can use your phone abroad. By activating this option you are agreeing to the higher charges imposed when calling from abroad.

1. 3 Like Home is not part of your price plan and therefore no variations of your contract terms has changed.
2. 3's services to you cover calls/texts made in the UK and not abroad. 3UK do not have control of operations run abroad, you are therefore using someone else's local network.
3. Roaming is considered a premium service and attracts a premium charge. Roaming is by default disabled on all accounts, unless explicitly activate by you. In doing so you are fully aware of the potential charges when using your phone abroad. It is therefore an optional service, much like a bolt on. You don't have to use it if the charges do not meet your expectations.
4. If 3 Like Home was part of the standard contract, every 3 customer would have received a letter/text giving them 30 days notice of the change and a chance to cancel.
5. If "3 Like Home" remained but 3UK decided to charge for the service, then you may still have a case. But since they are dropping it completely its hard to argue that it has affected you financially, purely because it cost you nothing before and it still costs you nothing after its gone.
Sorry if I've repeated myself, but good luck in your quest to take down 3.
I'm not a big fan of 3 at the moment either, but I have my PAC code so I don't care!:T

I thought they were being trained to do this. Thats why you have to sit through 60 mins of "why cancelling is not in your best interest", before they would send you your PAC code.0 -

Heh. You know I meant give people the correct reason if 3 are in the right, rather than just make one up.
I just got a PAC code for my other contract. She offered me 500 minutes and an e71 for £17.61 a month or 500 minutes, an LG viewty, my choice of free gift (wii, xbox, LCD tv) for the same price, both over 18 months. Took about 10 minutes before she gave up and issued the PAC code.0 -
3 are verse at telling people anything to gain a quick buck or stalling for time. But you must have a new world record of 10 mins, I wonder if anyone else managed to get their PAC any quicker. :T0
