you can call now and cancel baldy gamer, I dont know the opening times but will be a good time to call cause of BGT is on at the moment. But remember it wont be clear sailing to cancel cause the dept you need to speak to job is to keep you. ie if you not in contract offer you offers to keep you, if you are in contract say "we are entitled to change etc.." and puzzle / confuse you to thinking you not entitled to cancel
What is BGT? I got a text from 3 about removing 3like home and have been lurking this site.Is customer services as bad as i have been reading and is there any pointers in how the the line of questions will be i.e are they scripted.0 -
BGT = Britain Got Talent, alot of ppl will be watching it, hence be easier to get hold of someone at a quicker time / might find someone who is bored etc..
and not so much scripted to say but you can say they have a mandate that say this and that, and give them guidelines to what to do. The key is get pass the first line and than it get easier.0 -
also ppl who were using 3 like home to stay in touch this might be also a good replacement for it..
Just throught other way can make a cheap call to upto 3 / 6 ppl you want to stay in touch. If one take a vodafone pay as you go simcard and put passport on it from the 1st June for the next 3 months can recieve calls on it for free in 35 countries (check below.) Than give 3 / 6 ppl you want to stay in touch their own Vodafone pay as you go simcard.
than you add "my family" which cost £5 for the 3 people option, cant remember the cost for the 6 people option. You put your number, and 3 / 6 people numbers on the list.
Than can call one other for free upto 60 minutes at a time.
So can for only £5 a month call potentially upto 3 other mobiles aboard in countries below for free..- Albania

Thanks to all for the information given, I've emailed and posted cancellation notices so here's hoping. All my contracts (own phone and phones for elderly parents) were taken out before Apr 09, so I am cautiously optimistic but I've been a Three customer for long enough to know how difficult they can be. Luckily, two of the contracts only have another 10 weeks to run, so I can get out then anyway.0

I also made the call this morning and spent almost exactly the same amount of time on the phone. Well worth doing coz I had another 8 months to go, but already have another phone for work purposes so this one hardly gets used.0 -
I rang them back and they assured me again I would not be charged an early termination charge if I used my PAC. They said they were unable to change me to PAYG though!!
I'm only paying £12 per month at the moment, I'm looking for cheap line rental elsewhere!
Looking online Virgin are going LG Cookie for free on their £8.50 per month contract, £53 Quido too, not too shabby, might go for this one.
Also can I buy from Virgin online to get Quidco then call them with my PAC so I can keep my number?
I had a look at this deal it works out at £5.55 a month after quidco over 18 months not bad i dont know what the phone is like though0 -
I've been following this thread with great interest. Both myself and my wife have our contracts with 3. We renewed at some point last year and have 10 months left on our existing contract.
I'm originally from Dublin and so travel back and forth quite regularly. We took out the 3 contracts as they were offering the 3 Like Home facility which met our needs perfectly. So when both received the texts stating that we could cancel without penalty, we were very interested in the idea of leaving 3.
There has been 2 other issues that just pushed us to just want out.
1. The reception in our house has dropped dramatically in the last 12 months. I just found out from word of mouth that one or more masts in the local area where we live have been decomissioned, hence the weaker and quite regularly no signal. Which is a bit of a joke as we live a 15 minute walk from the centre of Worcester City.
2. I have the Internet Max add on for £5 a month. I discovered at the beginning of the month that I could stream an irish radio station through real player. I have been listening to a radio chat show for 3 hours each day for the last 3 weeks. Last week I received a text stating the following "You've reached your allowance under the 3 fair Use Policy. You may be cut off if you use more data before 04/06/09".
Now I understand fair use policies, but come on, streaming a radio station for 15 hours a week has pushed me over some arbitrary fair use limit. The add on therefore isn't unlimited really.
As both my wife and my contracts are in her name, she had to do the talking to 3 Support. We rang yesterday at around 5:00pm. It was 6:05pm before we eventually got our PAC codes.
We got through to the cancellations department pretty quickly after the initial minute or two with the person who answered. We simply stated our case that we want to cancel our contracts as a result of the 3 Like Home Service being canned. I could not believe the constant barraging from the representative repeating things over and over, making statements like "yes I can cancel your contracts no problem", then asking him to do so and then he'd go off a another tirade of hard sell. Absolutely unbelievable. I have never experienced the likes of it before.
Anyway, long story short, after several times being put on hold and the representative coming back with counter offers (we effectively were offered to have 2 contracts on £15/month in total, but at this stage we just wanted them cancelled due to their atrocious handling of our cancellation request).
We now have our PAC's, which we are going to gladly move to O2 and get ourselves some iphones. Fair enough, O2 are generally more expensive, but you get what you pay for i.e. better service and network.
Goodbye 3 !!0
