RAPH - if you arent going to wear it before the sale I think the thing to do is keep the tags on and reciept and then if you find it in your size in the sale buy it and then take the full price one back. If its within the standard returns period and has tags on AND reciept proving you paid full price then that is the amount they will have to refund you.0

Morning all,
Victory - my youngest son is about the same age as your LO, he's 8 (9 in August), going into Y5 in September. Since last September he's been going to school with is 10/11 y/o brother on their bikes. From this September he'll be doing it alone, as his brother goes up to secondary school. However, there have been days when I've been allowing my youngest to go/come home alone, if his brother is busy doing an activity. My rule of thumb with all my boys has tended to be if they're asking to have responsibility, and understand how important it is to be given it, then I tend to do so sensibly.
You have to take several factors into account, but if you believe he's sensible enough to do it, then give him a trial run. My sons are only allowed to do their journey to school provided they follow my pre-advised route. I've followed them, secretly, before, and I then told them afterwards I'd done it, so they never know if I might be following to see if they use the lights, and only cycle through a park, rather than along the High St.
We live on the complete opposite side of town from their school, and it's 1 mile door to door. When I thought about it, I knew I'd been 7 years old when I began the walk to school alone, even doing the walk back for home lunches. Once I'd walked a street or so from home, there were always other people walking to school, either alone, with friends/siblings, or with a parent.
When my youngest is going to/from alone, I ensure he has his (very cheap, basic) mobile phone hidden in his schoolbag, with instructions he switches it on as he comes out of school, in case I need to call him. I even allow him, if agreed before school, to stop off for a go on the swings in the park, saying he can be home half an hour later if he wants, but the phone has to be on, in his pocket, and his bicycle chained up while he plays.
I don't know where you live, or what the community is like, so it's hard to know you own situation. I live in a small market town, about 15k residents, 2 primary schools, 2 secondary schools, 3 parks, etc.
Back on topic.... I ache! I spent the whole afternoon and evening until 10pm out in the garden. I only stopped to cook & feed the family for dinner. I now have a newly dug 50ft border along one side of the garden, all beds weeded, a new alpines border done, and a couple of pots/tubs done too. BF has still yet to put my hanging basket brackets up, but he's promised tonight's the night! I ache loads today, so it was clearly all good exercise.
Food yesterday was OK, but I regretted having those carbs first thing - even if they were a treat. So I felt much more peckish during the day, and struggled to keep staving off the urge to eat, but did reasonably well to stick to snacking on banana, slices of lean ham, snack a jacks - ooh, and a 1" square of brownie (my bad!), so I escaped the cupboards into the garden, and drank loads of tea for the rest of the day, until bolognese later.
Today I hope to be so much better. So far so good anyway! One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

BAILS - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
VICTORY - I know a mother who as a compromise (this year) walks some of the way with her daughter and lets her walk the last half alone. That way she knows she can walk the "trickier" bits with her and then the last half which is a slightly "easier" she can do on her own. Also by that point of the journey there are other kids walking to school so there are people about. Next year she will be letting her walk the whole way alone, not that she wants to, but because she knows that its important to give her that bit of freedom and responsibility. At the end of the day you know your son better than anyone so you will make the right decision but remember that whether he is ready and whether you are ready to let him do it are probably two different things/questions! Hence the above compromise for a while could give you both a chance to adapt.
SARY - you really do seem to have sussed that carbs dont really agree with you which although annoying must be great to know. I dont seem to have that but I do try to avoid toast sandwiches etc so that I can have my (almost!) guilt free carbs with dinner.
Have not long been up and so need to wake up and get going with the day, had a late night so im all out of sync today. Food today has been cereal, then will have fish sushi for lunch (a tesco's treat bought yesterday) and meatballs, pasta and tomato sauce for dinner tonight. Not the healthiest dinner but, although Im going to asda today to stock up on cat stuff while we are away, Im not buying anything fresh before holiday so we are eating from the freezer. Also OH loves it and its an easy meal which is always good.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
tasting the full range of delights later - approx 28 different ones. want to join me missy? counted it as HEA for milk and then used my syns forthe day. I think i may feel a bit nauseated later . . . . .0

We walked him to cubs last night and let him go the last bit on his own, he was elated as you say dmv and sary it all comes down to their individual awareness but it is most important to give them the freedom so am doing so, slowly though:D
Carbs are a difficult one for me, it always says in the diet books that you should eat them to starve off hunger, to feel fuller for longer and because you eat carbs you eat less snacking etc well with me I avoid carbs because even though the WW meals are lovely the amount of pasta.rice, pots they give a person is so pathetically small I don't bother and if I were to eat carbs from my own free will well the plate will be loaded:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I do have them but can feel hungry after because there is not enough of them:rolleyes:0
