Well, the exercise thing started off well anyway! :rotfl: I got a txt from my boss at 5 to 7 asking if I would go out & do a paper round!!!! So I took my 4 yr old nephew with me & we wandered around town doing that, then played in the park for a bit, then I carried a big, old style TV up 2 flights of stairs!! lol so thats a good, if unintentional start!
Away to have some toast & tea for breakfast. Yum!

Oooh welcome back Pinklipgloss!
I missed you when you left! Congrats on nearly finishing your course, and look forward to chatting again! Hope you are enjoying life back in Scotland?
Welcome Scottish Lass! With 4 stone to lose I'd say 1lb-2lb per week for the first 1-2 stone, then perhaps 1lb per week for the rest? I agree with PLG about the mini goals too.
With the exercise my advice is to start really small, what about committing to 10 more mins per day of something (anything - extra walking is good to start with), 5 or 6 days a week? The thing is it must be extra to what you normally do, or you will not see the additional benefitObviously you have to be careful as there are medical issues, but has your doc told you what exercises are safe for you? Anyway good luck!
Frogletina & Mazza, you don't need an online calculator to work out your BMR, you can do it with maths - see the formula here. There are other formulae which give slightly different results, but I find they're all within about +/-20 which is good enough
Fresh new week so good luck everyone!0 -
Aargh!! Just automatically put sugar in my tea!! :rotfl: Oh well.
Thanks for the welcome Missy! Yeah, 1-2lb a week would be good & now that the nicer weathers here it'll make a big difference in that I'll actually want to be out and about! There's loads of really nice walks around here, I'm very lucky where I live. The things I'm on the meds for don't physically stop me doing exercise, it's more that I lack the motivation! BUT...... time to get out of that mindset & just get on with it!

Hey Pinklipgloss you're back:j:j:j. I really missed you too went you vanished. Welcome back, though sorry it's coz the weight has piled on. but you did it before and you can do it again: well done on completing your course.
Scottish lass - big welcome too. And I know I have missed other newbies this week - sorry not to have named you individually but throught your lot in with us, and post often for max benfit.
Objectives today are to eat well - I've got a big event in 2.5 weeks and if I don't lose a few lbs, the only possible outfit I have will be horribly tight.
Other objective is to slowly continue the declutter. Need to go to DIY shop to get a few bits and pieces to put clothes rails in alcove and dispense with wardrobe for clothes (we are moving our rooms around to accomodate more of OH's stuff).
As for being clever granny - it ain't pretty but it's functional, which is ok for where it is.
dmv - I'm not suprised you are struggling a little - you need a holiday: you've been working very hard when not always feeling that well, yet have still done well with your weight loss. I think these up and down phases of how much energy you can give to weightloss is quite 'normal'. (That's what I am telling myself anyhoo:D).
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Hi BB and Missy,
Great to see you guys are still around!
To be honest I've not had much of a life over the past year - been locked away in libraries, lectures or study rooms however its all coming to a close now! My graduation ceremony is on the 22nd June so I'm hoping to be close to meeting my first mini target by then! I'm so sad I'm really looking forward to it - I never attended my degree graduation as I had already left the country (Japan) so I'm looking forward to finally getting the cheesy photo.
We're staying in Scotland for another year then we're either emigrating to Oz, or, if we haven't saved enough cash for that yet we'll go back to Japan for a year then go to Oz the following year. Hopefully it will be next summer!
Neither of us enjoy living in Scotland - I guess its because we're comparing it to our lifestyle in Japan which was very different. However, now that I'm going to be working full time after the summer our feelings could very well change - but no matter what we're outta here next year! :rotfl:

Thanks BB. For the last few years I have really struggled about this time of year as the culmination of the education year and a lot of hard work so my OH's suggestion of missing a holiday this year was shot down in flames! I am literally counting down the days!
Welcome back (not that I knew you before!) Pinklipgloss! I know what the having no life while at uni thing is like! Im in my second year and have another 2 to go and I know when it comes to weightloss they say everyone makes excuses, but the uni studying thing does make it a lot harder.
Welcome Scottishlass, I have the same meds as you so you have my appreciation with regard to the impact they have on your life. Personally I find the tremadol makes it easier for me to sleep and not harder but I think thats because of the energy drain during the day etc.
I am feeling a little bit more positive today but havent hit the uni work yet so that could be why! We have roast chicken tonight and I think I will have 150cals of very filling cous cous in place of potatoes so will be chicken, cous cous and roasted veg for dinner. Right off to get a move on with the day! Have a good day all.0 -

dmv - - at least you can see that at this time of year you always struggle - which makesit nrmal IYSWIM, although no easier.
Forgot to say scottish lass - When I took tremadol last year it suppressed my appetite but didn't affect my sleep . At the time this was quite handy as my jaw was seized shut with arthritis is the jaw joint, so it woud have been hell if really hungry. However, it clearly affects different people in different ways. Oh, it bunged me up good and proper too.
Distracting myself from sad thoughts by shifting loads of books on to the shelves I put up yesterday. I would say OH and I are switching rooms around, but actually, it's just me, which I'm sure sounds familiar to some of you.
Was teeming with rain this morning but now glorious sunshine.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
