katiepoppycat wrote: »yay granny! can we have another kitchen update please?
I have a ceiling with recessed lights but no way of switching them on, a rehung door, a moved radiator, power points and 5 tiles in the middle of the floor surrounded by concrete and floor boards. I have a mountain of cardboard packages (the new cupboards) which means I have to walk sideways down the hall. I have a new oven/hob and extractor piled at the foot of the stairs which means I do a sort of shimmy to go up or down stairs. I have concrete dust, plaster dust, sawdust and a smell of something horrid. I still have a stand pipe in the corner of the room. Yesterday I even had a mini concrete mixer (well that's what it looked like) blocking the dining room doorway. Now you wish you hadn't asked, KPC!
So I'm still repeating the mantra .... it will all be lovely, it will all be lovely, it will all be lovely, it will all be lovely ......0 -
oooh grannny, did you know a concrete mixer is just what you need to clean the rust off your mail armour? pop it in with some sand and leave it going for a while - no more rust! Apparently this will not work on pans. so disappointed.0

Ah but has anyone actually tried it with pans?:think: I'm thinking the really gross ones with the baked on unidentifiable black stuff .. rushes off to look in the 'kitchen' for the cement mixer before the builders come back tomorrow ....0

Just in, so a very long day for me so bit pooped at the mo. 1lb off for me please raph. Will try and catch up later. Not here tomorrow - off visiting fellow mser bails:jI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

BB have fun with Bails-and please tell her I got my DLA. I used to gab with her over on the flylady thread and miss them often-but its too crowded over there for me to keep up.
Buttons is there no chance of you swapping out with someone else in the area? I know you said you liked it particularly because of its locality to your mum-but what are the chances?
Ragz enjoy your run tomorrow-what is your new career?
DMV loads of good focus vibes for you
We also havent been in long, playgroup and then house hunting. I had an appointment for 12.30 today and it was exactly where I wanted it-but when I got there I had to phone the agent-who had forgotten our appointment:mad:I waited 15 minutes for him to arrive, and when he did open the door...there was a flight of stairs twice as bads the one we currently have:eek:I didnt even go in. Then he insisted that I go and see another one "close by"... one mile and I walked! When we got there, there were no cupboards, the kitchen was tiny and the garden was communal. I wont be using that agent again. At least I got my exercise in with at least 3 miles walked. Although I was tired by the time I got back on the high street so I decided to get a bus. I couldnt find my oyster card and I only had a £10 note. The driver ACTUALLY refused to get on-telling me he didnt have change:mad:I have to make enquiries now to see where I stand on that.
My "saffer maatjie" is taking me to Kent tomorrow as I have appointments to see two places...and now I need to go check on the renters board as we got a knock on the door earlier-the estate agents come to put a board upI know we are looking, but we've heard not a peep from the landlord. Our year is up on the 27th of this month, but we assumed he was happy enough with us here and we would be going over to a rolling contract. Now Im freaking out coz I thought we could take our time-but now I dont know where we stand

POLKADOT - I have had a very focused day so thank you. RE your landlord is it a for sale of for rent board?Either way its unnacceptable behaviour to not contact you first. I'm not sure about the legalities, but my dads a landlord and he has to go to court at least twice a year to actually remove people from his properties (council stop paying the rent etc) and that often takes a good 3 months so its not easy to get rid of your tenants, especially not if they are paying rent like you are. I know my dad would always give good notice if he was going to sell a property etc even if a contract was up.
Right a lazy dinner of chicken, bacon and lettuce baguettes tonight, with added tomato for OH. And the oven should already be on....ooops......0 -
