Great ideas for those trying to find work, find something you like doing and turn it into a career. We did the same, we are into computers, me the software side OH the hardware side, so between us we fix pc's, build them and make websites etc. We also sell stuff online at our website, ebay and ebid anything to bring in money. All in all its not a bad business
I completed super fit last night but having a rest night tonight, nice to see some good losses coming in :j

POLKADOT - brilliant news on the DLA, I think I speak for everyone when I say that you thoroughly deserve it. And so glad you got to treat yourself to dinner and will be able to look at better properties, you must be so pleased.
My pedometer came today and I didn't think to put it on until gone 1pm. So since then and now I have done 9500 steps. Im very happy and I have constantly tested it and it is right so Im chuffed. OH has gone out for a bit so dinner wont be until gone 9.15 and I am absolutely starving...must not snack!0 -

I got back paid to 23/02/2009 and it has been awarded indefinitely.
Thank you DMV I am thrilled. I'm looking at somewhere out toward kent now. Just saw an add for a three bed for £775:eek:
I didnt want to initially because I had been told the bus service out there doesnt exist-but I've been googling at it seems thats not the case at all. And the spaces are huge compared to hear.
You girls are stunning...you've all been quietly waiting, and knowing all along-I saw that letter this morning and didnt want to open it. I thought "here we go, now to send for a reconsideration and then I can appeal". NEVER did I think I would get it this easily. Well, when I say eassily-you know what I mean. I'm thinking of making a batch of cupcakes to take into my local MP's office...I'm sure it was her communications with DWP that did it.0 -
yay polkadot! missy, you can make milkshakes out of supreme desserts you know - my mum used to - just add 1/3 to 1/2 as much milk again and you're off.
i'm loving seeing all the support on here, bbelle has some very good ideas. I got into the self employment thing because I liked retail work, and loved speciality food and had always said that one day i would have my own deli. trouble is, i grewup in a shop, and i remember how tieing that was so it was always a pipe dream really. then i saw an article about a guy doing door to door, did a bit of research and found it wasn't happening in my area, and just went for it. OH is often working so it doesn't steal time from us. the party idea then came along, an things are going pretty well. It can be hard working full time and being self employed part time, but it is rewarding. at the moment it doesn't really make me any money, but it feeds my speciality food habit and I meet loads of ace people.
had a whoops today. Optimistically snarfed down a bag of crispy corn kernels naively thinking they would be free on green - roasted corn right? wrong. of course it isn't, it's a snack and it was 22.5 syns. so, no syns for me tomorrow!0 -
Have just caught up on the thread. If only we ran the world (or even the counrtry)! The wisdom, sage advice and good humour in adversity that abounds on this thread is unbelievable. I can't add anything except my admiration to all of you.
Oh, I can add something ---- :j:j:j:j for Polkadot's good news.0 -
Well I didnt snack before dinner and am now stuffed, so apart from maybe a cheeky square of my fave choc (so rich that actually a square or two is enough and the taste lasts for ages) that will be it for me today. Not sure how i feel about weigh in tomorrow. I think I should have lost my 1/2lb gain from last week, but as Im not used to drinking at home Im wondering what that wine will have done to my weight? Hopefully not too much. Oh, and I've done just over 10,000 steps today which my pedometer says is (for a shortie like me) 4.82km. 5700 of those were when I was out with the dog this afternoon and based on speed and consistency were considered aerobic, with a total cal burn of 284 just from my daily walking which im quite pleased about. However my body is used to it, so it doesnt help with weight loss i guess.
POLKADOT - I think the idea of taking cupcakes into your MP's office is a lovely idea. She was only doing her job so I guess it isn't required but if she went above and beyond for you then your grattitude and appreciation will hopefully spur her on to keep doing the good work. As victory said what goes around comes around so if you want to do something good for someone else then all credit to you!
KPC - ooops on the corn snacks!0 -
Whoops --- Sorry raph made a mistake when I reported my WI this morning --- it wasn't 3.5 lbs it was 4.5 lbs off. (Can't do sums in my head and yet they let me manage a budget of 1.6 million
) That makes a total loss (since I was lilacked) of 25.25lbs.

HI all, I have just started WW and would like to join the thread please!
I'm in my 3rd week of WW (WI thursdays) and so far I think I'm doing quite well. Lost 4lb in my first week but nothing in my 2nd (PMT's fault!). This week I feel I've been doing pretty well. At first I found snacking my biggest downfall but in the last few days have discovered that eating breakfast a little later, and having a slightly bigger one, means I don't find myself snacking around 10.30 like usual. Pointless soup for lunch with carbs of some kind keeps me full for ages so a small snack mid afternoon and a reasonable dinner means I have kept easily on track today. Also just started having sweetener in my coffee (after having no sugar for years) becuase it tends to make me crave sweet snacks less as I feel I'm getting the sugar effect.
Just sharing in case anyone finds that useful, but enough about me. Hope everyone has a good week and I'll be back to post my loss on Thursday evening.
