    Hello chaps,
Well, lots been going on for you all today.

BB - well done on the loss, and on the regular loo trips! Carbs make my system sluggish, and make me bloated too, and I feel loads better when I limit my intake.

Serendis - that's a good idea about the shakes. My BF uses protein shakes to keep his calorie intake up, without the bulk of food.

dmv - at least you have a proper diagnosis now, and can take the appropriate care of your ankle. TOTM too, heck, I think chocolate should have been prescribed by the Dr. ;) When are your exams starting? My eldest began his AS levels today, and my 11 y/o started SATs today, so it's a bit like exam fever in this house right now! I'm also trying to convince my eldest not to drop biology, in favour of sports studies (his weakest subject).

Victory - I'm there with you on the wishing I had a job, and reason to justify my existence feelings. I get quite down about it sometimes, but then today I had to pack my BF off with a hug and reassurance of do your best, and have a good day (redundancy threats again, targets higher, etc), then my eldest went off with a hug and kiss and a do your best in your exam, and then I took my youngest two to school, and it was a hug and a kiss for my 11 y/o and a do your best, and don't worry for him! After that I realised that it was a full-time job looking after all these men in my life, and ensuring they are all supported emotionally, and their needs are met, so that homelife is as stressfree as possible. If I were working 9-5 I'd have been out of the house before them all, last one back, and probably more focused on my own day, and needs than on them.

BB - good advice to Polka there. I think you're right, and checking out what else is available, whilst seeing if the remedial work will be done on the one you're interested in now. It's location sounds good; how far is it from the little girl you're looking after, and will it be big enough for her to be with you there (presuming you're continuing with childcare)?

Well, it was a funny old day here today. After dropping the boys at school, I needed to nip to the s/mkt to get some fresh fruit & veg, milk, etc., and ended up spending far too much. I also bumped into another mum from the school and we ended up chatting about the schools, exams, etc., for over an hour! I'd planned to get the house properly cleaned 1st thing, so was late, and after getting home to have b/fast, made a start, then BF rings for a chat about his work. After that I put the phone down and there's a knock at the door. It was a good friend of mine, who I'd been out with last Friday, and she wanted to hear all about the reunion. She left at gone 3pm! Cue me quickly getting the hoover out, and panicky tidy up, before they all came back home again, and rumbled me.

    Food:
    B - honeynut shredded wheat
late lunch - bread roll, 1/2 slice corned beef
D - chicken pasta bake (using a small bowl to keep portion smaller)

No snacks today, and the only downside was little exercise, and the fact I ate far too late for breakfast and lunch (11am and 3pm)
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home

Sary one of the things about the location is that its just down the road from us so she could be brought to me (although some would ask why I still thought about it) and having the garden means I can do loads more with the two of them together AND the park is right next door too. And its even closer to the playgroup we go to on Thursdays and Fridays. The agent gave me a call earlier and said he would be able to get back to me with a response from the LL tomorrow morning. Otherwise we'll just have to keep looking.I am lucky in the sense that it is the same agent who found this flat for us.
BB I dont think the size of the kitchen will be a problem for DS as the only time I go in the kitchen is to make lunch and make cakes. DF mostly cooks supper. And I wont be needing the kitchen for decorating anymore. The only thing I do worry about is we have an ikea glass dining table in the kitchen which serves as workspace and eating space for the children. I'm not quite sure where that would go-but then as all his toys will be in his own room I should easily get a little kiddies picnic table into the lounge. I'm not very keen on having to eat on our laps again-but perhaps I'll have to.
Victory one of my colleagues posted this on the guild forum and it made me think of most of us on the board-a bit of inspiration for all of us who sometimes get stuck feeling like "Just a mom":
    "Just a Mom
A woman, renewing her driver's license at the County Clerk's office
was asked by the woman recorder to state her occupation. She hesitated,
uncertain how to classify herself. "What I mean is," explained the recorder,
"do you have a job or are you just a...?" "Of course I have a job,"
snapped the woman. "I'm a Mom."

"We don't list 'Mom' as an occupation, "housewife covers it," said
the recorder emphatically. I forgot all about her story until one day..I
found myself in the same situation, this time at our own Town Hall. The
Clerk was obviously a career woman, poised, efficient and possessed of a
high sounding title like, "Official Interrogator" or "Town Registrar." "What
is your occupation?" she probed. What made me say it? I do not know. The
words simply popped out. "I'm a Research Associate in the field of Child
    Development and Human Relations."*

The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair and looked up as
though she had not heard right. I repeated the title slowly emphasizing the
most significant words. Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was
written in bold, black ink on the official questionnaire. "Might I ask,"
said the clerk with new interest, "just what you do in your field?" Coolly,
without any trace of fluster in my voice, I heard myself reply, "I have a
continuing program of research, (what mother doesn't) in the laboratory and
in the field, (normally I would have said indoors and out). I'm working for
my Masters, (the whole darned family) and already have four credits (all
daughters). Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the
humanities, (any mother care to disagree?) and I often work 14 hours a day,
(24 is more like it). But the job is more challenging than most
run-of-the-mill careers and the rewards are more of a satisfaction rather
than just money." There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's
voice as she completed the form, stood up and personally ushered me to the
door. As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career, I
was greeted by my lab assistants -- ages 13, 7, and 3. Upstairs I could
hear our new experimental model, (a 6 month old baby) in the child
development program, testing out a new vocal pattern. I felt I had scored a
beat on bureaucracy! And I had gone on the official records as someone more
distinguished and indispensable to mankind than "just another Mom."
Motherhood! . What a glorious career! Especially when there's a title on the
    door.

Does this make grandmothers "Senior Research associates in the field
of Child Development and Human Relations" and great grandmothers Executive
Senior Research Associates"? I think so!!! I also think it makes Aunts
    "Associate Research Assistants. "

I have a presentation on the 20th and a 2 1/2 hour written exam on the 29th. The rest of my asssesments are coursework essays which I need to get motivated to do again. I've decided I'm gonna have a productive day tomorrow of some light housework (stuff needs doing but ankle needs rest!) and some essay writing!

Polkadot - I don't have anymore advice that BB with regards to flat hunting. Im sure you could get a few viewings in one day even just on your own to get an idea of the market, then if one of them is special you can arrange a second viewing with your OH.

Dinner was absolutely gorgeous. Did sausage, mash and beans (have lots of sausages in!) again but did pork and chorizo and pork and sweet chilli sausages which I had one of each of. They were divine. Obviously I will have gone over on calories today, but given the circumstances I think thats just gonna have to be ok. Now for wine and chocolate...

sary - I think everything you described yourself doing for your family really really matters. Polka - I agree with all the sentiments in your post too.
Running a home is no small job, let alone bringing up children. I guess the perfect combo for some women would be a part time job.
And in times of redundancy, men suffer in their own way when losing that defining bread winning role.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

reporting a 1.4kg loss this week! v happy! not so happy that i wasted a load of fabric last night. i've learned that you can't cut out clothes and watch tv at the same time.

polkadotm, how did the flat make you feel? thats the important thing i guess. i'd keep looking whilst hte cleanup is done, you might get something even better . . .

victory - so you are working! you can say you have an ebay business. i like the swapping lifestyle thing too, it's a big part of re-enactment - we often trade items and skills, so i'll mend someones clothes in return for them fixing my shoes, that sort of stuff. it works very well.

KPC Thats a result, I felt excited about everything except the kitchen. It was also particularly sunny yesterday so I was very critical (my dad always used to say you should go house hunting when the weathers bad-that way you know how the house will feel when its sad) I was easily able to look past the muck (Ive lived in some realy dodgy places in my life), but I couldn't get past the kitchen and the lighting....its really funny though because DF was really impressed by its potential.

I was up until 4am working on my site as I really want to get it up. Was woken up by LO downstairs trying to get into bed with me! Mum had just sent her up and not checked if I was awake:rolleyes:Not that I mind really...but still.
Have had my vitality breakfast and a coffee so the day has begun. Although I did notice she sent her in her gro with no clothes again-guess that means we're house bound. And I did so much house work last night because I wanted to be able to go to the park with them or something.
