good luck polkadot! thanks for the pm nmm - i don't have any of those details and the item is in the loft somewhere.
sorry to hear things are getting to you victory - i know you often buy on ebay and you are realyl great with bargains at car boot sales . . . have you thought about doing more selling on ebay and what have you?0 -
im crossing my fingers for you polka, i know how hard it is! I miss a garden hugely, but my flat is right near the river on the back of a garden so its not too bad now.
Act quickly though!
Ive been looking for jobs...not even one worth applying for. Need cheering up now i think0 -
KPC what I buy from the boot fair that does not fit I put on ebay, 2 items unsold 1 sold:rolleyes: OH buys bits and puts those on, books and bike bits mainly, trying to sell my enrique iglesias ticket at the mo, no bids:rolleyes: no wonder they go to the boot fair and sell it there, the very 1st stall we got to yesterday was selling her wii and all the games etc:rolleyes: I am going to be haunted now:rotfl:I sell more than I buy off ebay and I buy more than I sell at boot fairs:D oh and never underestimate the charity shops, love 'em:D
Garden wise I am doing swaps with the neighbour, coriander for lavender, strawberries for tomato plants that kind of thing so we end up with everything and they do too, not a bad idea, we call it the 'gypsy trade' where there is no money exchanged but you swap what you have for theirs and it works for all concerned, my in laws do it in their camper van, she is a fab home cook and over in france they love her corn beef pie so she makes it for them and they give her the pots or some strawberries etc:D0 -
Fingers crossed for you polkadot! Well I have had a really yucky day today. Along with hobbling about and having a cold I had my worst lecture of the week and when I went to the office to ask whether I could use my own laptop in the exam instead of one that they provide they had no idea that I required a computer for the exam! Of course when they checked it was clearly stated that I did, and the woman who deals with all that is absolutely lovely but it was just another thing that grated on me today, oh and on top of that all its TOTM so I'm a bit on touchy anyway! The cure? I went and bought a bar of chocolate and a bottle of wine! I also bought mango's, clementines and butternut squash but its the choc that has cheered me up! First proper bit of chocolate I have had in at least 2 months so I think its well deserved and I wont eat it all at once.
victory - love the "gypsy trade" people should do it more.0 -
Missy why cant I get myself as motivated as you are?
The key for me is to make sure that for the most part I'm doing things I genuinely enjoyIt's a hobby and I love it, so it doesn't take much motivation
My exercise log helps as well, I keep notes of every session and it's good fun seeing improvements over time.
This time last year I hadn't even started running, and 20km would have been a long cycle ride. Today I did 40km off road cycling with a 10km cross country run straight after!!! And unfortunately I'm in big trouble calorie wise because even if I eat another 500 today, it's going to net out at 236*insert cuss word here*
Sorry for not catching up on replies properly lately, the increase in activity means something's had to 'give' and it's internet time. Wishing everyone well though!0 -
hello everyone: I seem to have been busy today but not sure quite what i've got done. Still, very excited to have booked a day trip by train to go and see bails on Thurs, which will be fun... and the furtherest I've travelled in 3.5 years:o.
Polka -everything crossed for the flat: sounds much much better for you.
BM - sounds great that you are no longer bloated and 'have been': shows that your body prefers not to have many carbs I should think.
nnm: big congrats on the stone loss since xmas:T: you've just kept plugging away and improved your fitness no end so great result.
potato wedges(with cajun spices), parsnips, corgettes & peppers roasting in the oven with 2 pieces of chicken. Using all the oven space to roast butternut squash to freeze for another meal later in the week and roast a tray of red peepers I picked up for next to nothing which I can freeze in portions.
Made myself go out for a 40 min walk today, having been in all day and the sun is shining even if it is very windy.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
not actually sure of my weight, scales died a while back and haven't gotten 'round to replacing them, but last time I checked my BMI was 26 or so. I plan to cut down on the junk food I eat because I eat a hella lot of junk food.Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:0

Right, I've just had a chicken chow mein from Iceland of all places and it was really yummy....
But thats not why Im posting now-I need the help and opinions from you lot. I know it's really difficult since you couldn't see the flat yourself. So lets see if I can describe it clearly.
The garden is twice the size of our current living room. A bit odd to get to as you can either get to it through the second bedroom (which would house DS), or via the main entrance by opening a side gate. It is currently overgrown with weeds but he says it will be brought down.
Getting to the house is quite pleasant...there is a new fence up with a gate that closes:Tand then a little alley type thing running along the side of the house to our main entrance. Once you've opened the door, the layout becomes odd. The kitchen is directly infront of you, and it is tiny. It seems to be filled by the fridge. Of course at that point I wanted to switch off, until Matt pointed out that there is a basement room to the left of it with a box closet which would be perfect for all the cleaning carp...and of course the basement area would make a perfect "Cake room" and the fridge can go in there too. If you walk down the hallway to the right of the kitchen you come to the living room-which has a window box and some built in shelves. It is a fairly nice size although not as big as our current one.
The bedrooms and bathroom are at the end of the house, but theres an odd little twist in the hallway, so if you come in the main entrace and turn to the left, you head straight to the "cake room" take a sharp right and then a sharp left up three little steps to the bedrooms. There did not seem to be much light throughout the flat-but I do think that the blinds in the main bedroom were closed (now that I think of it-I wonder why that was). The house was filthy and stank-and there were traces of mould in the living room around the windows. The agent said he was shocked as the previous tenants lived there for two years, on was a PA and one was a banker. And he assured us that it would be deep cleaned. I have told him that I would like to view it again once the work that he has promised has been done.It really does seem to have potential but I'm concerned about the state. I just so love the garden-and it is right next door to a lovely park-hows that for irony. How far do I go in insisting on the work being done before losing it?
Our lease here expires at the end of this month...we have not yet heard from our landlord regarding resigning paperwork so assume as we signed a section 21, that we would just go on to month to month-in which case we can give notice at any time. Right? Arggh, off to look at the renters board:rolleyes:0 -
tough one polka. You don't want to end up in a horrid dump with damp probs. If the LL does the work, you have the added knowledge that he is likely to be a good landlord, who does what he says he will (and should do). How quickly are properties for rental going at the mo? If there are more places than needed, the power shifts a little to you. You have got to feel good about moving there in my opinion. Although the lay out of my standard Victorian terrace is standard, we use it in an unconventional way by having the living room upstairs in what would be the main bedroom, so thinking outside the box can be good.
Thinking about your ds -would the smallness of the kitchen be a problem? Small kids tend to hang out round mum quite a bit? Would he totally get under your feet. Is this the 1st place you have looked at? Can you look at others pronto to help you get an idea of what else is out there?
Yes, I think your contract would automatically shift to a month's notice (actually, he may have to give you 2, not sure about that)after the intial time was up, especially if you haven't heard from him.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
