Can I have a Visa Debit with NatWest??

Is there any reason you guys have decided to link your debit cards to PayPal instead of just your bank account with a direct debit? I'm fairly sure there's no charges when using the direct debit method.
If I had known I would be charged for each transaction, I would not have paid using this method.

i dont know the in's and out's of the Pay Pal charge, but its because Pay Pal them selves route all payments through Pay Pal Europe, which is been picked up a overseas transaction by NatWest.
Hope this helps.0 -

Unless NatWest refund these charges on Monday, I shall be closing my account the same day and finding a better deal

In their fees leaflet they mention foreign currency. Nothing about charges for sterling transactions made abroad.0 -

Like i said, i aint got a clue how it works, just what ive been told!
This is from that nat west web site
Transaction charges
The transaction charges when you use your card abroad and for transactions in currencies other than sterling are as follows:
For Point of Sale (POS) transactions there is a flat fee of £1.25
I dont know if it makes any difference but i think its the first bit, "when you use your card abroad " you get this charge, so although its pay pal uk, its routed through pay pal europe!0 -

i too am waiting for this card, i wasnt going to report mine as lost or stolen as i was happy with my little solo card, unfortunalty it was stolen ! so had no choice. the lady on the line who dealt with it did say it would be visa that i get and explained change ect.
im a bit peeved though as i am ready to order a couple of sofas from tesco direct and from what i read it wont work with them! hubby still has solo card so will have to use that, although it will mean i can now order from qvc as they never accepted solo.self confessed 80's throwback:D

hi there... today i received my replacement solo card with visa debit from the NATWEST. looks good and its a full visa debit card so can be used on line , just like a full visa card. most banks these days automatically check your account balances so to avoid fraud etc... hope the halifax follow suit and get rid of the visa electron.. I bank with the clydesdale and there changing over to mastercard debit with maestro on the card also.. so who knows if meastro is gonna become defunct in the UK, solo has gone and hopefully electron will disappear too...Hi, I'm looking to move my current account from my current bank, and would like to join NatWest as I have a couple of ISAs and a savings account with them. However, as I understand it, they only issue Maestro cards which are no good to me as I travel a lot and have experienced problems abroad in the past.
I've heard that they will issue a Visa Debit in certain circumstances - can anyone validate this? If so, what are the criteria?
I've also heard that they are migrating all customers to Visa Debit in the next 3 years - does anyone have any idea when this will start?
Thanks for your help! :beer:0 -
I was told by rbs manager that visa have bought out maestro???
Anyway she said that natwest and rbs are phasing it out over the next year. I have order a replacement solo card and its visa debit now.0 -
It looks like some companies have registered the BIN as Visa Credit hence the charge maybe contact Natwest and ask them to investigate.
Its already being being investigated by the change management team.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0
