Why was everyone happy to have their Solo/Maestro card before, as they kept their Natwest accounts and didn't switch to another bank, but now everyone's desperate to get rid of them? You could have had Visa years ago elsewhere.

I was never delighted that I had to use Maestro given the wider use of Visa but now that retailers have started dropping support for it I don't want to be stuck with it until 2011 ;)

Oh and did want to change banks to get a Visa but previously credit history wasn't so great and I couldn't get a new account :o

The only reason why I want to move over is because mainly all the items I buy are from the states, and Its a bit of a pain having to use your mates card!

    A&L are real crap!

I love Natwest now though, my cheques are now clearing within 2 days! (Not even working days!). Telephone banking seems real good, Just needed to open my eyes a bit.

The Visa debit will be the icing on the cake though :p
  • Natwest now has full link regarding Visa Debit Card put in search visa debit and it all comes up, can ring action line for one!! :p

    Can you post the link?

The only thing I can find relating to the Visa Debit Card, when doing the search, is for the NRI Welcome Account
  • Hi, everyone, Found out a while ago about barclays & coop switching to visa debit (full auth) instead of electron, Now I hear that RBS is switching to this too. Being an ulster bank customer with a step account I currently have a solo card and this is great news to me. TBH I have never once used my solo card in a shop as i am too embarressed by it. Can anybody tell me if the ulster bank are following suit and changing on the 13th sept also??...... All the posts on this forum relate to RBS/NAT but the ulster bank is the same thing but the N. Ireland version......even the websites are identical! ........ anyway fingers crossed!

I spoke to someone in the Ulsterbank Branch the other day, they seemed to think they change was going to happen in December.

I think it will happen at the same time as the Natwest changeover, after the 15th Sept try then and see if they are issuing them.

They are definitely changing to visa also , there was a pamphlet in last months statement saying "changes to your debit card"

Thanks toe jam, I`ll maybe loose my solo card in a couple of weeks :rotfl: , Is the visa debit is being issued to the solo holders too, or only the servicecard holders with electron replacing solo. I never got no letter about changes

Everything is going visa. Like I said no one seems to be sure when its happening, best thing is to give your branch a ring and ask. You might get a different story than me.
  • All RBS Group companies are switching cards to Visa starting very soon (I work for said company!). I forget the finer details (ie whether Solo cards are being replaced by Electron or normal Visa Debit, as its a few weeks since the announcement).
Check with your branch though, they'll soon tell you (or find out) the details!
