Can I have a Visa Debit with NatWest??

Right peeps ive just been speaking to natwest telephone banking regarding my account and I mentioned the visa debit switch over.
The advisor said oh wait a minute we had an email about this yesterday. *then reads the email to me*
It appears that natwest will begin to issue there visa debit card from 13th September for all lost/stolen/replacement requests.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Wow just heard about all this after getting an email from Google about Google Checkout dropping Maestro.
REALLY looking forward to Natwest issuing me a Visa Debit. Have been tempted a few times to change banks as Maestro is just rubbish.
Don't suppose any of those banks listed above accept new customers currently in their overdraft do they? lol
Yet they'll still continue to accept Solo.
I'm not an expert on these things but i'd have thought there were more Maestro users in the UK than Solo.
After RBS/NatWest have ditched Solo there will be no one issuing them as far as I can tell.0 -
So is Maestro/Solo going altogether then? Will there be any Bank left that still issues then once the HSBC and RBS rollout finishes?:hello:0

Just reading this with interest.
Husband and I have a joint account with Natwest, which we pay all our bills from, we have about £1000 go in (and almost all out!!) each month but we have a Solo card.
We have a cheque book and both of us have full debit cards on other accounts but Natwest won't issue us with Maestro.
Not a great problem as the account is for direct debit bills only at the moment but could see us both switching to use the account fully very soon.
Husband is self employed, so wondered if that was an issue.
Just wondering how they would replace Solo cards which they have issued for users like us?
If they've refused us Maestro, I doubt they'd offer Visa Debitor would they?

Any account holders with a solo card will get a visa debit card ;-)Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Got my replacement card the other day. Maestro :-(
Ah well will have to wait it out :-P0 -
They will be visa debit electronic (NOT ELECTRON) which are currently issued by barclays and lloydstsb.
Why not Electron? I understood Electron to be the equivilent of Solo (no credit requirements and such)
Seems strange to not be offered a full account with the correct amount of funds going in but then my mum had the same problem with Lloyds. Well over £1000/mo going in AND savings in there and she couldn't get a current account.0
