Can I have a Visa Debit with NatWest??
Comments

Hi
Reading your post regarding RBS and Natwest issuing Visa Debit instead of Maestro, will Thinkbanking be doing the same, as the account is issued by RBS0 -
think banking is an independent company and is not part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group think banking cards are issued by newcastle building society.
So unless newcastle building society decide to change to visa debit I would day say no at this moment in time.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
I've been closely hooked by this subject, and was just wondering; my friend who is at hsbc recieved his Visa debit replacement automatically, is it the same with natwest, or will i have to phone in and stuff?0

It will be rolled out in phases it wouldnt be possible to send cards new cards to every customer within the RBS Group in one go. There will be a date though if you order a new card you will automatically be sent a new visa debit card however this date is TBC.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
you received a card last week with an expiry date of 04/11. That's only 1 year and 11 months of validity. NatWest debit cards typically have three years.
I suspect based on this that NatWest are now issuing all Solo/Maestro cards with a expiry date of 04/11 because that is the date they intend to finish their transition, i.e. at midnight on the 31st April 2011 the last ever Maestro/Solo debit cards will expire and they'll have moved 100% to Visa Debit.
Reasonable assumption???
Also, where did you hear that the switch-over starts this month????
nope - just had my new natwest maestro card and it expires june 20110 -

The switch over wont start until the beginning of september.
There is a few issues with the switch over to visa debit. They need to be adjust the machinery first which embosses the cards as the new cards will be embossed with customers account number and sort where at present they don't put account numbers on card. They have to communicate all retailers about the new BIN so the cards can be accepted online and in shops etc so the cards are recognised. (I believe that all retailers had to until the end of May to adjust there equipments. Plus the cards are not even in the country yet there being shipped from asia lolIm an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Yes you get one automatically before your old card expires. The new terms and conditions dont kick in until 5th Sept. So at a guess i would say any cards ordered after the 5th september will be the new visa debit cards.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
