Have you ever disclosed why you were dismissed? I did watch you on BBC News but thought they quoted you'd been involved with the bank charges which is what Natwest took offense with (I guess they would if you helped cost them £1000's lol)......

Is it all a smoke screen? Confidentiality agreement?

I was sacked for sharing information with a third party without permission. It related to two articles by Ian Pollack on the BBC News website. One was that the OFT deemed the charges to be unfair and had written to RBS Group telling them that.(durrr! there is a court case ongoing so that is pretty obvious), and furthermore that Natwest would proactively refund if they lost the case which is already implied within the FSA Waiver.
Bottom line was I broke the rule of the club and the club ejected me. They might have taken my job from me but I am enjoying freedom and furthermore, I agreed with their decision to dismiss me. In time, I will be proven to have made the right call.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

Thanks for sharing that. So why do you say that you agree with their decision, surely you're not that straight laced? At the end of the day I thought you'd have fought tooth and nail to keep your job, surely your banking career (good as it was and very helpful) is now in tatters?

So if I asked you say, for example, to advise why my account had been blocked and you replied and suggested it may be because of AML but to speak to my relationship manager, would this be classed as a Gross Misconduct (in the eyes of Natwest?) - or would you say that info isn't confidential?

I was suspended on January 22nd and at that date I knew 100% that the disciplinary meeting would lead to my dismissal. I had great support from people from the internet forums I posted on. It was the worst time to get the boot so to speak

I fought tooth and nail to make sure that I would not be able to sue them for wrongful dismissal. There are things that went on during my suspension, disciplinary meeting and post dismissal that I am very disappointed with the bank over.

Gross misconduct is passing internal documents onto someone unconnected to RBS Group without bank permission. Gross misconduct could be classed as swearing at a customer. Gross misconduct has about 12 definitions which I have as it was necessary for me to have the definition for any form of defence. Posting on the internet could be classed as misconduct if, say for example, you said that your bank is rubbish and always cons its customers by this, that or the other. It's a bit like facebook, if you wrote that you thought stephen hester was a gob!!!!! and that your manager was gay, technically that can be classed as Gross Misconduct.

This is an annonymous forum so unless you said for example, I work in the lending department at this location for example, or that you have told someone who you work with that you post on the forum or you make it that obvious who you are then it is unlikely for them to know who you are. For example, I know we have on the forum, BarclaysManager who is clearly a manager for Barclays and very knowledgeable imho. Just posting advice is not gross misconduct. If for example, an employee of the bank had searched through internal documents and given out information not already in the public domain then that could be classed as gross misconduct. Personally, i don't think the bank should DICTATE what you do on an internet forum when you are saying the same things you would do at work without knowledge of an individual or companies acccount.

    Er,..no!

As explained above, they are changing in September this year, i.e. 2009. It would be totally impractical to change everybody's card on the same day, so the change will be phased in over a couple of years. Your Solo card will be valid until it expires and you won't get a Visa Debit card until then, -unless either you lose it or NatWest decide to change it before that date.

Just getting back to some folk liking their Maestro cards, I was rooting and found my original old Switch card issued by the old Midland Bank in the late 1990's. Much preferred it in them days, knew the staff on first names:p
