Wow well done you!! What course are you doing? (sorry if you've already said - short term memory!) x
Hi Raini, thank you!! Its a BA Hons in Business Management, its quite interesting and I'm finding it easier being a mature student as a lot of the coursework I can relate to my job!0 -
That card will be gone in no time at this rate. What will be the next debt?
Just spent most of the morning searching nice recipes and doing a meal plan. Still spent £65 ish though on delivery, but if it comes in under and I have remembered everything then it's a fiver that can be chucked somewhere else.0 -

I think the next debt will be the Northern Rock loan... because I owe around £2650 on it, and they offered me to pay 50% of it at the start of the year!! I couldn't afford this even tho it was a fab offer, but I was thinking if I chip away at it next and get it down a bit, I have £900ish in tuition fees being re-imbursed by my employers in August/September so I may be able to make a offer to them then. I would be super excited to be rid of one of my BIG creditors so soon.... (trying not to get excited thinking about it actually - saddo that I am!!)
Well done on the meal planning, I need to get a recipe book on ebay, and get some inspiration, we seem to be going through the same things every week, fajitas, shepherds pie, fish and chips, roast chicken - we need some variety! I'm actually hoping to find time to go down to Aldi when I get paid this week as I see they were advertising fruit and veg at 49p this week, would stock up for smoothies and soups to take for lunches at work.
Right, off to get this section of my report done and then I just need to start piecing it together.....

Nooo don't buy a recipe book! Go to the O/S board and get some inspiration from there or use google, much cheaper lol0

I have just been going through my amounts that I will pay to my creditors this month as tomorrow is pay day. As per earlier in my diary, I have got rid of my debt management company, and am taking back control of my creditors this month.
Having totalled up the monthly payment to the debt management company, there is a difference of £46.20 each month... that is I pay them £308 each month, but the total they have been paying my creditors is only a total of £261.80!! I've been in this plan for a little over 2 years so have effectively lost around £554!!!
Does anyone know where I would stand if I tried to claim this back? I am so angry at this company, but also at myself for not really double checking the figures until now. I think I might post on the Debt Free Wannabe board to see if anyone has any advice, or if I should just kiss my £500 goodbye....
I only wish I had found this site a few years back, then my finances would never have ended up in the mess they are in now!0 -
Well I have checked my "Contract" that I had with the DMP company and it seems like I signed the document knowing that they charged 15% Am horrified that I didn't notice this sooner, but I only started paying to them in July 2007 so I guess its good that I noticed it at all. It also means, on a positive note that I instantly have £46.20 extra to chuck at the debt, so I'm trying to look at it that way.
Have spoken to BLS tonight, the people who my Lloyds TSB debts are with and I asked about a settlement figure, just out of interest. They would knock £1000 off the total and they let you pay the settlement figure over a six month period - which I wasn't aware companies did. For me at the moment this would mean £532.66 per month. I can't manage that just now, but my plan might go as follows:
1. Get rid of the Halifax Credit Card this month
2. Chip away at the Northern Rock loan until I get my student fee's re-imbursed, then 'hopefully' get a settlement figure on that and pay it off.
3. See what the settlement figure would then be for the BLS account and HOPEFULLY be able to accept and pay off within the six months.
This would then only leave me with 1st Credit and Egg to deal with.
I'm trying to be super optimistic here, because I am actually starting to see light at the end of the tunnel.... its taking its time but it will be sooooooooooo worth it in the end!......0 -

Hi CWC,
Just getting caught up on the diaries, been lurking but not posting much recently! Well done in taking control of your finances! Just noticed you have your mortgage noted too, I think will do the same as I now have internet banking so can see my mortgage payments!
Keep looking for that light x0 -
Just catching up, hope all is well.
It would be amazon if you could make an offer and get one paid off. God luck with that.0
