Thanks ScottishMummy and Yukkibear, it didn't go as well as I had hoped. It was a case of ok your speaking to us so are you coming to the family function next weekend? Which neither of us want to go to. My OH is starting to buckle under their pressure but I just feel like whether we go or not its going to be a crap situation for me.... if we don't go it will be my fault and if we do the MIL will be watching me the whole time to make sure I'm not looking at anyone funny blah blah blah... don't know what to do really
I know they just want us there for show and to parade my daughter about and I'm just soooooo incredibly uncomfortable with them, wish they'd all just disappear!

If you feel as though you will be watched and poss talked about whether you are there or not then you shouldn;t go if that's wat you want to do. You'll get the same outcome regardless so don't put yourself under any more stress for the same result?
Hope I didn't read that wrong.0 -

Morning Yukkibear, you've read it exactly right, I just feel like I'm the bad guy whether I go or whether I don't. My OH just doesn't want to go on his own because it would then look like they were getting their way and coming between us, so I can kinda see what he means. I just don't want the hassle, plus a 2 year old at this type of thing, its just not fair because she isn't going to sit still, and I'll be stressing at her and all the rest of it. Its just his mum trying to get her own way as usual.0 -
Will your OH go anyway whether you do or not? I can see his point though and it must be awkward for him as well. Why do people have to have parties? lol0

No I don't think so... the saying "you can choose your friends but not your family" is soooo true! I've done what I can to resolve this situation and its been knocked back, so I don't feel like I can do any more - I tried.
Back to concentrating on debt busting for me, OH and DD, they are whats important!!0 -
You have the right idea. You've tried you can't keep on trying all the time so don't worry about it, your immediates are who are most important.0

Yes, its onwards and upwards. Especially on the money front, have just sold another batch of baby things on ebay so the payments are trickling in! Will hopefully get the money I withdrew from paypal last week in the bank tomorrow so I can knock that off the credit card.
I've also got some items to sell at work, so I have written the emails for those and will send them tomorrow morning.
I have a really old sewing machine, well I say really old I rekon its 1950s that I'm not sure what to do with, I can't seem to find anywhere that I can suss out the value of it. I'm not even sure if I want to sell it or hang on to it, I think that would depend on the monetary value!0 -
So have just received the £20 from Paypal for my ebay sales from last week. Have transferred £10 of this straight onto the credit card, and kept £10 - I forgot about fathers day so will need to get cards!!
I've sold a few of my items I had posted at work so that will go to the card too. So far only £15 but I have someone coming to look at a box of books that I am looking for £30 for.
The £45 cashback from Sheila's Wheels has been "Received" in my Quidco so that will be paid this month along with a few other things in Quidco so I think its around £57 I should get. At this rate I will hopefully get rid of the credit card before the end of June!!
Off to update my sig with that £10....0 -
Hello :hello: Well done on all the selling
You're doing great! :T
Sorry to hear about the problems with the in laws. When I met the LB I had such ... 'difficulties' with some of his friends ... long story ... and TBH I had to do what was best for me (as I was going a bit mental!) which was to not see them, or at least as little as possible. I always said to LB that he could see them whenever he liked but that my life was too short & in the end because of how they treated me he didn't want to see them either. Which made me feel so bad at the time but I would have been the same if it was the other way around!
Sorry for the waffle ... just meant to say I sort of know where you're coming from!x
