I ordered a few bits from boohoo.com. Hermes was the delivery company that was used. My parcel has apparently been delivered to letter box, but there is nothing outside my door, no knocks on the door, neighbours do not have the parcel. Nothing.

What do i do now? I emailed Hermes but they were bloody useless. I really needed the package for today.

    SO ANGRY.
  • I have been waiting for them to deliver an Amazon parcel all today - it left the Speke depot at 09.30 hrs this morning (and my workplace is in Speke) and supposedly attempted a delivery at 14.55 hrs - considering there are about 40 people at my workplace that is a load of rubbish. No card left, no way to ring them. Emailed and rang Amazon and they cannot get in touch with them except by email! I have never heard of them before luckily and will hesitate to use Amazon now if they are going to be using them again!

supposedly my parcel wasnt delivered yesterday as "there was a strike"

when i pushed him further he said that all roads were closed due to a strike

    such liars

retailers need to realise that customers are not happy with this amateur service.

And were the roads closed? If they weren't, why do think that your parcel wasn't delivered because of the strike. With most schools closed, perhaps the courier had child care issues.

I ordered a suit from BHS which according to Hermes tracking service was delivered at 7:30pm last night. I had intentionally stayed in all day and paid extra for it to be yesterday.

I appreciate 'mistakes' can be made, but how can a parcel be delivered to the porch of a house without a porch? And yes I know it doesnt neccessarily mean porch (because they have to tick an option when they deliver etc etc) but there is nowhere it could have been left other than on the floor outside. Furthermore, do you not ring/knock the door when you deliver things? No card left?

Now Im being told by Hermes to speak to BHS, who in turn are saying we'll have to take 1-3 days to establish whats happened. But you will probably get a refund.

What help is this to the wedding I have tonight? Minus my money, and suit?

Having spoke to BHS and Hermes, no one has a contact number or record for the driver who made the 'supposed' drop? What sort of courier service is this?? And why are the companies who use them, so quick to defend (by the looks of this thread) the enourmous amount of errors they make?

Why did you leave it two days, before a wedding, to order a suit?

Hermes does have the contact details for the courier (I believe it is part of the service agreement they have with the courier), I would suggest you question the service you are getting from British Home Stores.

I did. They take 48 hours to get back to you and are pretty useless too. I need the items now, hence why i paid for the delivery to come today.

ricky, even Hermes allow you to refuse certain deliveries to threatening customers.

Hermes cards are sorry I missed you, I fill in details. I'm not time banded so it could be anytime between 8am-6pm, I've been delivering for 11 years so know my route and add morning/afternoon in your area, always leave a mob number. Surprising how many want an exact time though.

I would never have a customer call and collect, asked often but when I'm finished delivering that's it. All calls go to text or message and picked up the next morning.

I have some really good customers who text if they're expecting a parcel and are going to be out so I don't waste my time. I've made some good friendships with some who phone to see if I've got a parcel for birthdays/ mothers/fathers day and happy to get back to them with a yes or no.

The customers who don't bother after cards are left or who only contact on the final "your parcel is being returned" get what they deserve, no help from me.

I have a lot of time for customers who need help, patient with helping with returns for newbies etc. but no time for customers who think you have to put on the Santa costume and climb down chimneys to deliver.

I've never been threatened and one of my areas is a notoriously bad area, I have had a few recently from the other side of the track state I'm a useless courier because I won't deliver to "Missy" when I refuse eve delivery, collection from my home or delivering to a place far away and they will complain to above.

I find it works to go the extra mile for really nice customers but stick to the t&c's for the rude and inconsiderate.

The problems I have had with couriers over the years are huge, within 3 months I had one give a £500 pc to someone that wasnt me(basically went "are you mr X" to someone who was walking up to the door of my shared house of 20 rooms who of course said yes, then 2 months later had a £200 monitor given to someone and when asked the courier said it was a "young female blonde" when there was only 1 person who fit that description in the block of flats.

The worst was when I had a £900 tv wrecked by UPS which cost me £80 to send INSURED and it was 2 weeks old, in original box and wrapping with extra towels, sheets, even 2 duvets over it.

It arrived with black bags around it and when taking box out noticed it had dents in packaging and the screen was smashed inside it, was told had to be sent to the insurance department for testing and package check and they rejected my insurance claim saying it wasnt packaged well enough and to make matters worse when I recieved it back from testing the tv and box was smashed utterly in half to the point the plasma screens plastic shell was shattered.

When I made a higher complaint I was told that they dont insure ANYTHING!

The best courier was a myhermes person who delivered by car, I text them on a Saturdayand they actually redelivered Sunday from their car and rang me when they were around corner!

retailers need to realise that customers are not happy with this amateur service.

They should have said roads were grid locked some were then closed in my area, of 100 deliveries, I could only deliver 49, more time spent trying to move around and deliver(normally deliver 100 no problem). I'm lucky, even though as a self employed courier I worked more hours than normal for half the pay, the majority of my customers are intelligent and realised the problems were caused by the strike.

Retailers are becoming more aware of problem people, if the courier states they were in xxx place the HHT they carry proves it, if they tell porkies it's immediately spotted, they accept not all customers are reasonable and nice and that's also noticed.

I have too point out chicko your probably wrong stating "retailers need to realise that customers are not happy with this amateur service."
They are very happy with the very competitive prices Hermes offer, some could go under without it, it is at a cost, courier is paid very little and customer may pay nothing or up to £4.

The problem is when the customer expects a 5* service for a low cost.
