I am a bit confused about Hermes. My parcel is late. So 1) I can track the parcel on their website but it has no key to their cryptic code. It states 'missing pre-advice'. Googling brings up people asking what it means and people responding but nothing conclusive. Great! 2) I can send them a message asking what it means. I get an automated response saying

This is an automated e mail, please do not reply

We apologise, but are unable to deal directly with you regarding your parcel enquiry. Please contact the company with whom you placed your order.

So what's the point in allowing me the option to ask in the first place? Am I missing something?

I am finding Collect+ a revelation, mind. Bought something Sunday, picked it up from my local shop on Monday afternoon in my lunchbreak.

the point is it allows their customers can contact them
    eg the senders

regarding the message.sounds like theirs an issue with the senders documentation

I thought Collect Plus was a collect and delivery service. They pick up from a shop you have bought something and deliver to your door. Why did you have to pick it up?
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

No, it's a service for customers to collect/return items at their own convenience, and what's more, it's totally FREE too and usually a next day service ;)

Trying to deal with these clowns at the moment (or rather Amazon are as Hermes 'contractually' cannot deal with me directly).

They have apparently attempted delivery 4 times so far and nobody has been in - the most recent time they marked me as being 'on holiday'.

Funny thing is the address is an Army barracks with a 24/7 guard room (run by military staff) and a 24/7 reception centre (run by civilian staff). All visitors are logged in and out, refusals of entry are also recorded - no record what so ever.

Just off the phone from Amazon, who have apologised as they haven't been able to get through to Hermes either as nobody is picking up the phone, ha...

I ordered some shoes from next a couple of weeks ago and was told that they would take about 2 weeks to be delivered. I still haven't received them so rang them up this morning to see what had happened.

I was told that the Hermes courier left them in a secure location last thursday: The bin. The courier did not knock (my parents were in the house, as well as 3 builders working at the back!) and no card was left. And the bin men have since been and gone. Who really looks in the bin for a delivery without being prompted that its even there in the first place??!!

Now the shoes have sold out so i doubt i'll even be able to re-order them now. I'm so angry!!!
  • Hermes is an atrocious service, and when the Christmas period comes they will be far worse.

I'm sure Hermes will be worse during the winter as will all logistics companies due to the driving conditions and increased workload. However, Hermes actually did a lot better that its competitors last winter (based on actual figures rather than anecdotes) and won some significant new contracts based on how it performed during the snow.

    I'll second that.

Last December getting a mainstream courier to collect was a nightmare, manu with upto 5 day waiting list. I decided to book a load of parcels in with Hermes which was all gettign there spot on. Many dispatched on the 20th and there in time for Chritmas (I was very surprised)

I ordered something through Dorothy Perkins on the 2nd October. Got a dispatch email on the 3rd October with tracking details. I tracked it today and this is what it says

    07/10/2011 10:25 Signature From Customer
    06/10/2011 12:09 Courier Received
06/10/2011 06:27 Out For Delivery To Courier
    05/10/2011 23:35 Processed at Depot
    05/10/2011 14:44 Receipt at Depot
    03/10/2011 22:40 Receipt at Hub
    03/10/2011 21:15 Order Generated

Now I had it delivered to my work which is the Post Office (I do this with everything I order online as there is never anyone at home during the day). We have been open from 9:00am today and we havent had this delivery. Do I contact Dorothy Perkins or Hermes and does anyone have a number for Hermes as I cant see it anywhere?! So angry, knew it would be trouble as soon as I saw DP had sent it with them.

Knowing my luck they were too lazy to walk into the Post Office and have just shoved it into the post box or something, argghhh

Contact DP -- Hermes will tell you the same, they don't like talking to recipients unfortunately.
