courier wont care
leave instructions where to go
let the office know
nothing worse than the blank look, then various "who is","do you know if X is in?" etc etc as your time ticks away0 -

Ordered some bits from the next sale and got an email early hours from them to say my parcel is out for delivery.
Well got home from college early today and low and behold there is a card through the door but all it says is she will try to redeliver tomorrow! There won't be anyone in tomorrow as I work full time (day release at college) but she/he hasn't left a number on the card so I can call to advise that I won't be in and to try and delivery to my work (just round the corner).
Most Hermes couriers are self employed aren't they? How can I get my parcels before she sends the damn things back to Next!? Any suggestions more than welcome.
If you work full time and knew your not going to be home, why did you not enter you work address for delivery in the first place :huh:0 -

Because it said that they won't deliver to business addresses and secondly normally couriers leave details so you can discuss with the redelivery or go and pick up.0 -

Hermes couriers will try three times to deliver, If you want to make alternative arrangements, call Next to organise it.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Yes they will. We get Next parcels delivered all the time to my office.....and secondly normally couriers leave details so you can discuss with the redelivery or go and pick up.
No they don't. Most home delivery services ask you to contact your supplier. Some individual couriers will leave their number as matter of choice (I would imagine only to regular customers), bu the y are not obliged to do it (and quite frankly, I can't blame them, I wouldn't like to get calls at ten o'clock night when you get home and decide to call the poor beggar). Also remember, they don't get paid to run around looking for someone who may not be there. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
This is what the Amazon/Hermes tracking system said:
15 Oct 2011 04:29:00 AM Out for delivery
So I waited in all day on 15 Oct, I mean if it's "out for delivery" from 4:29 AM, I reasoned, it has to reach me today, doesn't it?
It didn't reach me that day.
Next day was Sunday - still no joy - OK, day of rest.
Now it's 1:35PM Monday 17 Oct and still no joy - do I go out and shop or eat cereal for lunch? Sod's law says they will arrive when I'm shopping, so cereal it is... The tracking system still says:
15 Oct 2011 04:29:00 AM Out for delivery
Does 'Out for delivery' mean 'Out [in the van] for delivery' to me, or 'Out [in the warehouse] for delivery to the Courier'? All very confusing... and I don't want to know any of these things...
What I really want to know is 'When it will be delivered to me'.
Tesco Direct recently gave me a two hour delivery window. The van driver phoned up and asked if I could receive it just before the delivery window.
Yes please.
Now that's service! And it was a bargain basement bookcase, nothing special, and cheaper than anything on Amazon (including delivery)
I'll be checking Tesco Direct to see if they are close to Amazon price next time I shop online....
Meanwhile... time for cereal...0 -
Now I had it delivered to my work which is the Post Office...
Blimey a delivery that involves Hermes *and* the Post Office... and you expected to receive it
In the last month the Post Office/Royal Mail has managed to lose a book I sold and CD I ordered... got me coming *and* going. Hermes have only got me coming so far, but then I haven't sent anything using their service yet...0 -

What has Amazon said?
How the hell are Amazon supposed to be any wiser about what the tracking messages mean on Hermes!!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
