And what "mistake" might that be? The evidence is on the tracking- and if that is wrong, whose responsibility is it?

You already explored that possibility in your "blog."

i sent a parcel with items being returned to a seller via hermes with an extra fee for £100 insurance and more on top of that for the all important recorded delivery. i called the seller since i had not recieved a refund in a substantial amount of time, they said that they had not recieved the parcel which was strange considering the parcel tracker stated that it had been signed for (giving a date and time of signiture). no problem i thaught, i can just get the signiture from hermes as i had payed for recorded delivery. i have called all the illusive numbers and bombarded hermes with emails pleading for a human advisor to contact me but i have had no luck. meanwhile the parcel may or may not have been recieved by someone who may or may not be the right person. i just want a human from hermes to contact me. what should i do.

If it was you who sent the parcel, why did you call the seller? What is "recorded delivery?" I thought it was Royal Mail who offered that. Are you sure you are complaining about the right company here?

  • Hi,

I had an order that was supposed to have arrived today and have just checked the tracking and it states:

    Date Time Status
    26/10/2011 20:54 Delivered to Letterbox
    26/10/2011 10:26 Courier Received
    26/10/2011 05:52 Out For Delivery
    26/10/2011 00:42 Processed at Depot
    26/10/2011 00:14 Receipt at Depot
25/10/2011 17:13 Hub Sorter Receipt Scan
    24/10/2011 23:17 Order Generated

Does anyone know what Delivered to letterbox means in Herms delivery terms as nothing has arrived,
  • Hi All,

I do think delivered to letterbox means they posted it to you, as I've had that on my tracker before and it's been on my doormat, but in this case you obviously don't have it and so it may be worth giving them a quick call.
I am also confused by my tracker if anyone can help, my parcel said carried forward yesterday, and now it says received at depot today. I received a separate hermes parcel today and now my mind is well and truly boggled. Any one know what this means?

    Many thanks in advance :)

It is quite possible that the courier who carried your parcel forward was unable to deliver it the following day because of holiday, illness or allocation. He/she may have been a relief courier, to cover for holiday or sickness and was not working the next day, so returned the parcel to the depot for re-delivery.

  • I'm assuming Hermes-Europe are the same guys?! I ordered a bag from asos nearly two weeks ago now, to be delivered to my work address. After a week of waiting patiently and giving the benefit of the doubt to the cryptic tracking information (2 items were being delivered to me? Only ordered one bag) I finally got an email from asos saying my parcel had been returned and that they had refunded my money! How hard can it be to leave a note and re-deliver? I know that in real world things go wrong but there are plenty of delivery services with a hugely better track record. Expected better judgement from asos. If your not going to do something properly hermes, then don't do it at all!

Just to have a rant about Hermes or MyHermes services.

I used their services for the first time last week, one of the few couriers who offer a Saturday collection service (at a price). The collection never turned up, which is 100% accurate. Hermes are stating that a driver did turn up which is a lie. I had to arrange another courier instead and Hermes will not issue a refund.

If you are considering using Hermes services do a web search first, there are many complaints regarding this company with similar complaints to mine.

    Rant over..

What was the reason the goods didn't get delivered?

  • Don't forget Hermes uses a premium rate number on customer services and keep you waiting for a long time. This is another way they rake in the cash.

And before anyone says it's not a premium rate number it costs 10 p a minute and does not come under free minutes on your mobile.
