Problem with Hermes Delivery Services

• Hermes are just terrible and incompetent, and my suggestion for anyone ordering online is to check the courier that the website/company uses, if it's Hermes, save yourself time and grief and just buy from a shop, you'll actually find it's more convenient.

I order online regularly. Whenever the parcel is delivered by Royal Mail or HDNL I never have any problems. I've ordered from the Burtons website 3 times and chose nominated delivery (you pay extra and they deliver on a day of your choosing). Each time the courier they have used is Hermes, and each time the delivery has failed to turn up on the day requested (and paid for). On the second occasion the parcel did not arrive for FIVE WEEKS despite regular calls to Burtons.

Hermes apparently do not like talking to their customers and make it near-impossible for you to contact them. I have called Burtons countless times, each time they 'query' Hermes and assure me the parcel will arrive the next day, yet it never turns up, even when Burtons leave them clear and precise instructions like to call the customer's mobile, or to leave it at the back door.

It amazes me how this company are still in business when there are so many better couriers out there.

Just terrible service.

The courier gets paid so little for delivering your parcel, what is the point spending what they get paid in telephoning you?

Does your house have name instead of a number?

Hi jazzy,

Sorry to hear you've had trouble. Please email rosie@myhermes.com directly, if you have trouble again. Also, if you have Twitter you can reach us @myHermes and someone can help you out asap on there.

Thanks.

Addressed to someone who wanted to use Hermes to collect. What about apologies and explanations to the rest of us...the many who wanted Hermes to deliver? Many questions in this thread- can you answer them, please?

Seeing as you haven't actually posted anything, it would be difficult, don't you think?

Which posts would like them to answer?

I would have thought that a great many issues have already been resolved, one way or the other.

Your sarcasm does you no favours....post #648- to which you responded, by the way.

And I don't agree that "a great many issues have already been resolved". (Incidentally- an issue is resolved or not...it cannot actually be "resolved, one way or the other").
• ...my usual Yodel/HDNL guy delivers promptly & reliably every day without fail... but never again if they're going to palm deliveries off to these stupid home delivery type couriers. They can't read addresses and you never know when they will arrive!!

You do know what HDNL stands for, right?

why not?

whether its having a parcel returned to sender, or delivered in the end or financial compensation provided -- it's a resolution.

ideally though a resolution shouldn't need to be sought -- prevention is better than the cure and all that.

Hermes do seem to have a great deal of complaints on the web though, this thread has alot of rubbish.... the more memorable one being somebody complaining their parcel arrived on time and they wasn't home. :rotfl:

I think you need to remember Hermes are not a small company -- people forget about the millions of successful deliveries each year. They do have alot of room for improvement, but ultimately when you're paying less than £3 for a parcel to be delivered, what can you expect?!!
I've had many more problems with royalmail over the last 12 months than Hermes, but it really depends where your based as there's always going to be a bad apple in every bunch

Quick question. As everyone in this house works full time and there were no options to leave delivery instructions with my order, we have a plastic box tucked out of the way and a signed note on the door. In your experience, are Hermes going to take notice?

Last Hermes delivery I had changed to attempted to deliver when I'd been sat watching the road all morning from 7am, then was dumped on my doorstep two days later so am not holding my breath.

Yes, they would certainly prefer to leave it as long as they think it is a 'safe' place to leave the parcel and that you can be trusted not to make a false claim. If you do leave a note put it on the outside of the door so they can remove it after delivery.
