Problem with Hermes Delivery Services

And I know this isn't strictly Hermes related, although it relates to the fact the person supposed to be delivering my parcel on behalf of Yodel happens to be the same courier who delivers for Hermes... despite the fact Yodel have their own delivery van in this area, so why the hell Hermes are delivering it is beyond me... has totally bolloxed up my delivery yet again!!! No surprise there then!!
I thought I was safe ordering from Pet Planet when they stated they use Yodel as their courier, as my usual Yodel/HDNL guy delivers promptly & reliably every day without fail... but never again if they're going to palm deliveries off to these stupid home delivery type couriers. They can't read addresses and you never know when they will arrive!!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Maybe because they send out millions of parcels with them and should be familiar with how Hermes works?
Or maybe because hermes will only talk to the sender and can offer more information to Amazon than to the recipient?0 -

Because they are the suppliers. They can ask Hermes about where the parcel is. I would have thought that was obvious. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Amazon told me to get back to them by the 22 Oct if it still hasn't arrived, but mailed me today (21) saying they had sent me another parcel 'first class'.
Looking at their tracking system estimated delivery date for this is 12 Nov 2011 - 2 Dec 2011.
First class?0 -
Hermes appear a total disaster to me. A recent Amazon order has been held up for 2 weeks since Amazon dispatched - with the Tracking Status of "Possible delay in delivery due to extra carrier processing" and of course Hermes won't correspond with you, only with the sender. Even with contacting Amazon who assured me they'd contact Hermes and get the delivery sorted, it still hasn't turned up. Now Amazon have said they'd send another one out.
Since then I've ordered something else - and yes the courier is Hermes and yes it's late and yes the message is "Possible delay in delivery due to extra carrier processing". Too busy now! Wait until Christmas!!
Do Play.com and Tesco Direct use Hermes I wonder?0 -

It sounds like the issue might be with the sender. What have Amamzon said? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
No, Amazon have since dispatched another via a different courier which has arrived today already! It's definitely Hermes who are the problem.0

Not necessarily so. It is possible that this time Amazon got it right. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Hermes delivered today - on time! They left a card to say we were out and let themselves into the back garden to leave the parcel in the greenhouse.
My partner sitting within view of the van the whole time and didn't hear any knock or doorbell.
I need to return the parcel but there is NO 'phone number on the parcel or the card.
Do they call this a service??0 -
