  • WRONG!!! I ordered some stuff from Littlewoods yesterday and it was delivered at 8.30am this morning (Saturday) by HDNL - FREE OF CHARGE!!!

    Congratulations on being silly.

    Did HDNL turn up to Littlewoods and tell them that they'll deliver it to you absolutely free of charge.. or did Littlewoods have to pay HDNL to deliver it to you?
    can you see where this is going?

    you mean postage was included in the price

    Regardless, if it had been from one of the other Shop Direct companies it would still only have cost £3.95.

    I fail to understand why, when Shop Direct & HDNL can manage to provide a perfectly useable service with delivery within 24/48hrs, even on a Saturday, why other companies can't do the same! Why on earth does it take days & days for items to arrive and often at considerable cost!

    Another company I use is based in Ireland and I can order from them before 5pm and have goods arrive by 10am the next morning! And this is normal delivery service, not a special requested delivery!

    possibly because some companies get better deals from couriers due to the quantity they send so they can charge less. Some may even subsidise the costs
    Plus, just because a parcel may take days to arrive, it doesn't mean it wasn't next day delivery from the couriers point of view. If you buy something on a Monday and it's delivered on Friday, it can still have been sent of a next day delivery on Thursday.

    I was expecting a delivery today but nothing turned up. According to the tracking facility on Hermes website it was delivered and signed for. Spoken to the sender who have told me it was definitely signed for at my address.

    I was in all day apart from about 10 minutes when i had to go and pick the kids up and i have not received a 'missed delivery card'

    Ive spoken to my neighbors Incase it was delivered there but nothing. Any advice? Thanks

    Ask the seller to request a copy of the signature firstly.
  • I purchased an item on the 1st of September with the belief that I would receive it in advance of September 8th, the day I needed this item by. It was advertised as having 48 hour delivery thus I thought I had ample time to spare.

    How wrong I was.

    Despite repeated days where the item was listed as being 'Out for Delivery' the courier never got round to delivering the package to me on any day. I contacted first the seller who was very kind about it, and as time became of the essence I then contacted Hermes who stated they only deal with the client who sent the package. The seller then contacted Hermes and they said that it was out for delivery and I should receive it on Friday.

    They never delivered much to my sadness and dismay.

    They are bar none the worst delivery company I have ever had experience with, and while I am certain there are good people working for that company the poor organizational structure and company culture makes it a service that should be avoided until (with a wishful 'if') management change their ways.

    The importance of receiving that package on time, and the ample time the company had to deliver it shows a shocking lack of care for their client who is now forced to refund for the non-receipt of goods (although I have instead requested that once, or if, the item is returned back to her a different courier service be used to send it to me).

    Hermes is an atrocious service, and when the Christmas period comes they will be far worse.

    Hermes service is a 3-5 working day service. Are you sure it wasn't 48 hour turnaround?

    What happened to your parcel in the end?
  • It was advertised as 48 hour delivery, I paid on the 1st, the order via Hermes was created on the 1st and for the past few days it's been listed as 'Out for delivery' - they failed to deliver the item by the 8th which was when I needed it by, and to this date I have not received it despite Hermes telling the sender after she contacted them that I would receive it on Friday.

    I am a bit confused about Hermes. My parcel is late. So 1) I can track the parcel on their website but it has no key to their cryptic code. It states 'missing pre-advice'. Googling brings up people asking what it means and people responding but nothing conclusive. Great! 2) I can send them a message asking what it means. I get an automated response saying

    This is an automated e mail, please do not reply
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    We apologise, but are unable to deal directly with you regarding your parcel enquiry. Please contact the company with whom you placed your order.
    So what's the point in allowing me the option to ask in the first place? Am I missing something?
    I am finding Collect+ a revelation, mind. Bought something Sunday, picked it up from my local shop on Monday afternoon in my lunchbreak.
