Sorry for being scary TPA, I think it boils down to the fact we all know someone who is overweight, and we love them, and want as much time as we can with them, and we know the harm they are doing by being overweight and its sad to those around them.
My dad is a perfect example. Now fair play to him, he cycles 90miles a week minimum and plays football once a week, BUT he's overweight and my mum is terrified hes going to have a heart attack and she'll loose him. He eats like its going out of fashion, lots of snacking in the fridge when the rest of us are already asleep!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Ditto Dinah! I only get so passionate about it because my parents are both 'obese' and it drives me mad. They both have problems caused by being overweight and the problems would go away if they lost the weight. I'm always worried about my Dad, I'm half convinced that he won't be around to walk me down the aisle (or hobble as he does now due to his gout- curse of the overindulgent!). When I lived with my parents the house was a funny lay out and the big living room was upstairs and there was a small tv room downstairs too that my Dad pretty much lived in as he drives me and Mum mad with teletext! Anyway, I was always running downstairs to check on him if he'd gone quiet for ages and whenever I heard a noise I was downstairs to make sure it wasn't him having a heart attack and keeling over! It's no good for the nerves!
I have to admit that I want him to lose weight for more shallow reasons too, I want to be proud of him on my wedding day and I don't think I will be when he looks as he does at the moment. Especially as we're going away with our friends, I don't want them looking at my overweight parents in their swimwear and judging them. It doesn't help that OH's friends are all in excellent shape!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. We're thinking February 2011, that's what we've told all of our friends anyway! I think we'll go into the travel agents and price it up shortly and get an idea of how much it'll cost us and our friends. I'm going to make pretty caribbean themed save the date cards once we decide for definite what date we want!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It's tiddling it down now, so no 9mile bike ride tonight! Meant to have thunderstorms later on too. Looks like a whole night of listing books in amazon now.
Just had a call to say my passport is at home, can book the holiday at the end of the month now! Pretty gutted me and OH have had to cancel the big holiday in September but we'll figure something out, OH might win a big bet before then (he was 1 off winning 8k the other day, crikey!).. well, I can live in hope.0 -
Blimey Cinny, lets hope next time he's more lucky! And don't worry about the holiday, they always work out! Why did you have to cancel a holiday in September Cinny? Which one is that? He could put the money in a bank account instead of gambling it, from the sounds of it he'd have the 8k pretty quickly!
Already thunder up here, not good, I'm in a big scary office on my own! (And my car is at the far end of the car park!)Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Him and his boss put £2 or so into a bet at the start of the month and just fund other bets from winnings. So if OH was to loose, he's *really* only loosing £2. To which I replied 'No, you're loosing XX amount!' But it's place pot (or something) bets they make, really cheap as it's lots of different bets but you get big payouts if you get it right.
It was just going to be a late deal somewhere hot for a proper week away, we've had to cancel it as OH doesn't think he'll be able to save up in time. But it's only a holiday, I'm upset we can't go, but I'll live!0 -
I'm very sad, I just broke my Burt
He was all big and boyant one minute then he just deflated and went limp. Even his little eye is all shrivelled up. How am I supposed to de-stress now?!
Edit: For those not in the know Burt is my purple gummy worm stress toy I keep at work to help me concentrate!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Lol NIM would wake up sharply with a knitting needle through his scrotum if he ever said that to me! Plus I'd burst out crying immediately!!!
I am sure NIM would be worry. I would be scary s**tless if OH did that to me!Dinah93 wrote:I just broke my Burt

I was even more worried till I read the whole thing.
Gym was good. I can feel the muscles burn. After I had to go to Tesco for a few bits so picked up a pizza for dinner, but on a MSE point it was half price compared to some of the others.0
