With me its not so much about looks as about health, and there is no denying the extra straign the organs and joints of an obese person are under. I'm afraid I'm in the 'ewww' camp when it comes to Beth Ditto, I really don't think she looks good. Equally I would never say stick figures like Nicole Richie look great either. I guessI have to fight quite hard to keep myself slim and active because of my blood pressure, and it does irk me that some people knowingly abuse their otherwise healthy bodies, and don't appreciate that being healthy is a real gift to make the most of, and shouldn't be taken for granted.

I know where you are coming from, me and hubby both need to lose a considerable amount of weight and I know his family worry about him. However for me when I was with my ex I used to thow up after every meal, in the end my skin looked dreadful and I started to have heart palputaions. I'm not making excuses I'm fat because I over eat, I remember going to the doctors once and her saying 'do you think you have put weight on because your on the 'pill'....er no, I'm fat because I eat to much I said, she was amazed at my honesty!! Just saying really I need to be careful as I don't want to get bad into very bad old habbits, however I am much fitter now and that is more important to me. Plus on a MS point, who wants to buy lots of clothes when yu buy them because they fit not because you really like them:rotfl:. Sorry I'm being glib now

I appreciate your honesty TPA, and I do see where you are coming from. When I was 16-18 I went through a time of obsessively counting what I ate. 700 cals was a bad day, 1000 was a disaster, if i could come in at under 400 that was good enough. I never made myself sick, but I remember my bf at the time spent an hour trying to feed me a quarter of a burger, I was sobbing because of how bad it was for me. Even now I think I probably have a slightly odd relationship with food. I'm a size 10, but I feel very guilty if I eat one mini-muffin or a yoghurt that isn't non-fat, I can't remember the last time I ate a whole 6 square bar of chocolate, and I sporadically try to wean myself off the squash onto water, which I hate, because of all the empty sugar. I remember in January I was a little heavier than now, as in my 10s didn't fit and I was in 12s, I tried on a pair of work trousers in a 12, no way were they doing up! I got really morose about it, wouldn't stop until we joined the gym, started counting again (although nowhere near as bad, 1500 good day, 1800 bad), I was crying when I looked in the mirror, really kind of extreme stuff when I was only a stone heavier than my 'bearable' weight which I am now of 9st 11. It's better to be over weight than have an eating disorder, but its better to be healthy than overweight would be my answer.

I'm not at all into the whole size 0 thing and think many of those girls are not attractive. As with everything it's the extremes that are not so good.

Perfectly put! I think it's just about finding a balance and a point where you're happy with yourself, then it shouldn't matter what other people say or the so called ideals. But then there are very few people who can put their hands up and honestly say that!

As for Beth Ditto, what I don't get is how everyone goes on about how we need 'bigger' role models. And a really talented singer comes along, admittedly a little bit quirky and the whole media seem disgusted! I mean, on the BBC big weekend her dress rode up over her flesh coloured under garmenty thing and everyone went on about how it was 'gross' and 'ugly,' yet if it was one of Girls Aloud or something, everyone would love it!

    And update on the list!

I'm so glad that I have a happy relationship with food, I love it too much to deny myself nice things because they're bad for me but I try to eat the bad stuff in moderation. I do have those awful days (weeks!) when I hate what I see in the mirror so I try to cut back but it never lasts too long because I'm such a foodie!

Although I don't find size 0 attractive, I think I'd like to be properly skinny, just for a while, to know what it's like! It would be nice to be able to buy clothes without worrying about getting them over my hips!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

I think I have got a pretty healthy diet at the moment most the time but do have my bad moments/days! I agree that it is important to be healthy. Some people can be very healthy and weigh a bit more. I am fairly happy with where I am now, jsut wouldn't mind losing half a stone!

I have realised that I actually have slightly more money that I though, as sister owes me 30 quid. I am desperately trying to get a black mark out of her dress i borrowed, if i can't get it out, got to pay her for it.

Have just been looking at houses, have found a few we are going to look at. Very exciting!

I was really good, went to the gym last night, and going again tonight as there is some new kind of boxing class on which sounds good. I used to do JKD and kickboxing, and I really miss them, so maybe this will hit the spot. Also we were asleep by 11.30, and I felt so much better for that extra half an hour.

£40 more on the £20 a day challenge, still lagging badly and need to ebay! Think thats a job for wed and thursday. The £40 came in the form of £20 each for NIM and I from MS-ing, however it hasn't gone into the house deposit fund as we are both overdrawn :(:(:(

Morning, well done on the gymming, I feel brill for having done a bit of exercise yesterday and also getting a bit of sleep. I used to do a boxercise class and it used to kill me, my face would be bright pink for about 2 hours after! Good for you though!

Didn't get as much done as I thought, had an email this morning to say my card was declined for father's day pressie (I think it's an expired one that was registered on the site, rather than having no funds!) so I'll have to re-order, gah!

Well done also on the £40, at least that's £40 less you'll get overdrawn (?)

Well done on the gym Dinah. I am lagging on my 5 pounds a day challenge, need another 110 pounds in 2 weeks... not sure will make it.

That is annoying about your card getting declined Tete, hope you manage to sort it. We got our dad a toblerone while shopping last night, need to think of something else.

We were meant to be going for a lunch with girls from work today but the gilr who oragnised it is ill, that saves me a tenner though!
