Have also put on a few pounds after getting all nice and trim. Naughty also had crisps at lunch. Will have to do some exercise DVD when I get back home - much cheaper than the gym x
Have to wait until I hear back from the jury service before I know if I can go on holidays, so I don't even have the thought of swimsuit to motivate!:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
What makes me feel discouraged is how much work you have to do to burn off the treats! I get bored of a machine after a few minutes and the thought of staying on there for over 30 minutes to burn off some biscuits is unbearable!
I know what you mean, I'd been going on the bike today long enough for my legs to be feeling it and the display said I'd only burnt 7 calories - that's like half a rice crispie or something!!
I just got up to make the teas and am in a lot of pain. Had to do 10 mins on the rowing machine instead of my usual five because nothing else was free and I'm stiff as a board now!it's kind of mad how many people are so unhealthy now and don't seem to care, but we are desperate to get rid of a tiny bit of podge so we can be classed as underweight!
I know, when you look around at girls our age in the street and almost all of them are really quite podgy, and that's the norm now, I remember seeing people that size when I was 4-5 and staring at how big they were. Now you have to be morbidly obese to get a second glance (if you know what I mean!)
As for your OH making you feel like a pig - mine has these really weird eating habits where he'll live off a bowl of cereal for two days, but then eats loads with me (I've given up trying to talk to him about it) - he'll make me itemise what I've eaten all day and when I say '4 cups tea/coffee, a yoghurt, sandwich and cup-a-soup and maybe a bag of crisps' he thinks it's a lot! Good job I'm good at ignoring him!
Were those leaflets distributed by the aforementioned colleague Dinah? It's a nightmare I know. The work I do is on behalf of a big but quite inept govt project, and of course it's my number on the website... Gah! I know it's unprofessional to say 'I know it's rubbish' but I do, it makes them stop shouting at me
ETA - Lara that's atrocious about the jury service/holiday pickle! When do you hear?Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I know how you feel Birdie! But what I mean is you'd eat the biscuits anyway, right? So anything that you burn off is a bonus - this is my theory and I'm sticking to it! Gym is stupidly expensive though and I don't believe people when they say that the more they exercise the more they enjoy it!
I think those ads are quite effective - I do want to be healthier. But, there was a question on one of the surveys the other day - would you rather be a) thinner or b) healthier and I think a lot of people (girls, mainly) would say b.
You're right, I eat rubbish anyway so I might as well burn off half a bourbon rather than nothing! OH is one of those freaks who loves exercise in any form, I think he's very odd!
I think that gyms should be subsidised for all people to encourage healthier lifestyles, and I maintain that we should have playtime at work!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I know what you mean! Isn't the average size a 14-16 now? And people are just accepting it like it's fine but it's not healthy, on the TV this morning Dr Hilary was saying that women with a waist size of 35" are at risk or heart disease yet this is fairly 'slim' by todays standards! I asked the ladies at work, who are all overweight by varying degrees, and they're not even really bothered. One said that if her doctor told her that her health was seriously at risk she'd lose weight, but her waist is bigger than 35" and she's a smoker so surely her health is already at risk?!Tete_en_l'Air wrote: »I know, when you look around at girls our age in the street and almost all of them are really quite podgy, and that's the norm now, I remember seeing people that size when I was 4-5 and staring at how big they were. I'm tempted to join the gym now! Only thing that puts me off our local gym is it being connected to the local Post 16 and I don't really fancy being glared at by them while I puff and pant away. Really do want to get down to a size 10 though, I can't win with myself!
My mum has managed to loose almost 2 stone with Boots diet, she loves it bless her! She's tried SW, WW ect but they've never helped. It's basically just a calorie counter, I think she's on 1800kcal a day or something. She's all excited now she's under 12st.0 -
I need to lose a few lbs, just can't stop eating at the moment. Jeans were a bit tight this morning as well....
I did an online diet a couple of years ago and went down to my lowest adult weight, stopped it though and it came back0 -
Hera hear Birdie. Its mad that the government want you to be healthy, yet charge for all sports facilities and to park at the hospital!!!
I'm lucky, NIM always tells me I look fantastic, and he'd love me no matter what shape I was, but he encourages me to be active when I don't want to because he knows its good for th blood pressure.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

It's all this 'embrace your curves' stuff - but the people they use as examples are Kelly Brook and Scarlett Johanssen - no way they're over a 12! I was reading something the other day that said that 40% of women now wear a D-cup or above, like it was a fantastic thing, and I was thinking yeah because they're all overweight!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

Not that OH says I'm fat or anything, god help him if he did, he just calls me a greedy pig (or on one occasion 'pregnant sow') but I don't care because I don't think I am!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Lol NIM would wake up sharply with a knitting needle through his scrotum if he ever said that to me! Plus I'd burst out crying immediately!!!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
