I'm having zoom done in a weeks time. It seems to be the best for 'instant whitening' although there are some side effects reported which may put people off (eg recurrent sharp pain in certain areas of the mouth). Most people though report that this subsides after 24-48 hours and many reviews I have read say it was worth the pain.Add a message a week on monday if you are still contemplating it and I'll let you know how I get on (I'll forget otherwise!!).0

I looked into salon whiteneing, they had an 'open day' in the village hall
However they put my teeth next to the chart thingy and I was only 3 off the whitest and it would be barely noticable!
Had good (and noticeable) success with Crest Whitestrips from the States in the past tho
Whitening was one of the things I was wanting before my wedding, may look at dentist based whitening nearer the time and see if they can offer a better result0 -
I have just been offered the zoom treatment next week at a show for £199, is this good value? I was told I will get a scale of plaque etc at same time as treatment and as my teeth really are badly discoloured I really want it! Just to find £200 quid from somewhere now0

Sounds a good offer to me.
What sort of show??How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

What sort of show??It is at NEC birmingham a BBC show of some kind(june 11-15), I thought the offer was because I will be on the tele but she assures me I wont be thank god
I asked about needing a scale and polish before treatment but I am told I will have a check up from a dentist first and he will sort my teeth out before they put the gel on, I have two black teeth either side of my front two which i am worried about so I thought if I take the offer now and get crowns in a few eeks when I know how white my teeth will be as there is no point now while they're brown
Is this a good thing thing then TS? I know you know the field and have read your warnings so the fact you haven't shot my down first time is a positive for me lolIs the "zoom" treatment good? I understand it has good wow factor for initial treatment but need to keep treatment up to keep them white am I right? I am happy to do that you see I have never had confidence in my mouth and so many comments since school and as an adult and I am 25 now and only last week some idiot shot me down for them I really want them sorted
whitened first and crowns very soon after will mean a confident me and that has never happened! And it is half price becaue of the show, no doubt I will have endless gorms looking at me while it is done lol
Edit- and the main reason I asked for your advice is my ex got hers done at a cost of £230 from some guy in an office form an ad she saw on the internet a salon job and he even admitted he knew fek all about dentistry but was ok to stick gel on my girlfriends teeth and after about 35 mins she was in pain so she had to stop! He offered a her another 30 mins free of charge as it didnt do much anyway but she didnt want the pain again! My teeth are much more stained so I am hoping for better results after this treatment with the reviews I have read.0 -
Will post before and after pics if the thread wants it? if not I will keep em to myslef lol :rotfl:0

Zoom is OK, but the effects you get are largely from dehydrating the teeth - it always bounces back a bit. The light has been shown to have no effect on the process I'm afraid.
I guess one of the reasons the costs are now lower is that it is being marketed a lot as there are better systems around. The best currently is Enlighten which is by far and away the best system (no interest). I have both systems in my surgery - I gave up promoting Zoom ages ago I felt a bit of a fraud using it as it was only the whitening gel doing anything, not the light. The Enlighten system involves 2 weeks home whitening with a specially made tray, then 2 surgery applications using the trays with stronger product. The before / after photos are amazing.Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you are usually right.0 -
I think those clinics are all right.
The web site ives a Dr and a marketing guy as the 'brains' behind it.
Zoom is usually a dentist only system, so I would assume there are proper dentists involved.
I was a bit discouraged to see that the Peterborough site was at a health club - that makes me think of untrained non-dental beauticians doing the treatments.
Just make sure that the person doing it on the day is a qualified dentist. If not - then I wouldn't risk it, and you would be perfectly justified in asking for your money back. How to find a dentist.
