I think the price you are getting the Zoom at is very reasonable.
Enlighten is more pricey, @£600 as the kits are expensive. But you get trays which you can keep for top ups, which you don't get with Zoom.Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you are usually right.0 -
hi Toothsmith and all.
have been thinking about the whitening products for a while, but also need my teeth straightened.
i have to have root treatment on my upper right front tooth and my lower right front tooth and they have to be bleached internally apparently.
so my question is this
am i better getting teeth straightened (braces) then root treatment then bleaching (when the cavity has settled over a period of months) and then tooth whitening (my dentists quote me £250 for trays and either 16% or 22% strength)
or getting my root treatment done, and then let the cavity settled while getting my braces and then teeth whitened?
Thanks for any replies.
i have also come accross this site
http://www.smile4you.co.uk/
can i have honest opinions on it? as i wouldnt mind spending £25 now, and having teeth whiter whilst doing everything else in preperation for the dentists trays after getting my teeth straightened.
many thanks.

If you need a root filling or two, then that means you have teeth with dead nerves that could blow up into an abscess at any time.
This is a priority - get this sorted out first.
A possible complication of orthodontic treatment is root resorption. This is when the body starts to destroy the root of the tooth, and the tooth falls out. This is very uncommon - but is more common with dead and /or root filled teeth.
Resorption is also a very rare complication of tooth whitening.
I would not muck about with wonderful sounding internet whitening kits at the best of times. With you, in particular, I think you need very careful professional advice, and really would not muck about at all.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

thanks for getting back to me.
my top tooth is indeed dead and my dentist said my old dentist butchered it and left "voids" in it as that one did have an absess which is why it needs re-done
my bottom tooth is dead and has an infection at the bottom but i have not been given antibiotics for it.
if my 2 dead teeth were to fall out, i wouldnt mind getting false ones for there, i may be 25 but if it needed done it needed done! will see though.
am also trying to save for those invisibraces (which i know can be very expensive) but at 25 hate the thought of train tracks and the ridicule attached :-(
which is why i wouldnt mind paying the £250 for the dentists kit AFTER my root treatment/braces.
but i need to save like mad though.0 -
ive been toying with the idea of buying one of these sets from ebay, they are so much cheaper than getting from the dentist. I had a good look at feedback and the only negatives were about delivery etc. Has anyone used these? are they safe? do they work? and ive 1 crown, would it be safe with that? anyone help? i cant afford the ££££ the dentists charge but want a pealry smile for my wedding pics lol...yes i do attend dentist regualry, i do brush etc etc i was just never ever blessed with pearlies..saying that i dont wanna end up like simon cowell or jodie marsh

Hi, there is a huge thread on this HERE
The advice usually is don't do it, the chemicals used in the over the counter ones aren't always strong, but they can do immense damage.
Ask your dentist to give them a good clean just before the wedding and also ask if a home whitening kit provided by the dentist would give good results.
Then you can decide if you want to save up.
Buying off Ebay is really risky as you don't know what you are getting and often there is no come back if you damage your teeth.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
how about electric/sonic toothbrushes, can anyone recommend a good but decent priced one? thanks xmyx0

How much are the wedding pics costing?
It would be far safer to have DIY wedding pics, and professional toothwhitening.
Crowns don't change colour. If it matches well at the moment, it will look completely different to the rest when they lighten up.How to find a dentist.
