Is this any good? Offered this by the dentist for teeth whitening.
Also can office home whitening be done in one session?
Are there any questions I should ask?0 -
Has anyone had this done recently ?
If so was all ok and how much did it cost ?
I know there has been a thread about this previously but seems to be more about home kits vs salon whitening vs dentist whitening.
I want it done by the dentist and not the syringes to take home at nearly £ 300.00  I have recently lost my crown , so may as well get it done while new crown is needed.
All help appreciated .

Zoom is usually dearer than the take home syringes. Often the in-surgery treatment is backed up by the tray and gel take-home system as well. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
I didn't have Zoom, I had Britesmile - done at my dentists and cost £500 and I have to say that it didn't make that much difference to my teeth. I certainly wouldn't pay it again, although I have been wondering whether or not to try the teeth whitening you can get in some beauty salons. The one near me charges £200. Has anyone had it done in a salon?Jane

Salons are operating illegally.

Go for gel and tray systems at your dentist.

Hi Everyone!I think I have done something really stupid!! I was going to get Zoom treatment while on holiday in the states (because it works out around £200 cheaper than in the UK) but I have been scared off by horror stories and the fact that I don't want anything to go wrong and spoil my holiday. So I have been looking at treatments here and I found a website about dentawhite which uses the BEYOND system. I called up and booked my appointment for 10 days before my holiday (to give some time in case of any mishaps and paid a deposit of £50. Now I have came across this thread and I'm having second thoughts!!Firstly, the "office" I am having the procedure at doesn't appear to be a dental surgery. Secondly I'm worried that the person doing the work will not be properly trained if not a dentist. Is it true, as I read from a previous post, that all people carrying out whitening work of this kind MUST be a registered dentist? If so, I'm going to have to go through the tortuous process of trying to get my deposit back if the person is not a dentist!! Getting worried now.Its my own fault for not investigating properly and visiting the place first, but I got caught up in the good price!! If anyone can give me any advice, I would really appreciate it!!Thanks0

Zoom treatment in the States would have been safer than what your about to do.
At least it would have been carried out by a dentist, in a system where professional insurance is required, and there are processes for redress if anything goes wrong.
Do not touch dentawhite with a bargepole. It is an illegal service carried out by people who aren't properly trained. Their website is misleading in the extreme. They say that their gel 'has no side effects'. Well that would be a first! All the products I know can have some side effects. It also says it's powerful enough to remove the surface staining and then penetrate the tooth to change the colour of that. Well - if you have your teeth whitened at a poper place, the staining should and will be polished off first. The reaso they don't is because they're not dentists!
I would threaten reporting them to trading standards if they don't give you your deposit back, and then - I would report them to trading standards and the General Dental Council anyway. How to find a dentist.

I have spoken to them and, surprise surprise, they are still not willing to refund my money. I have spoken with the GDC who confirm that only registered dentists should carryout whitening treatment. So looks like I'll have a fight on my hands. Incidentally, I knew getting Zoom in the states would be safe but I just don't want to run the risk of something going on and ruining my holiday (treatment would be on the second day of my holiday!!). So I'm just going to spend the extra and get zoom 2 here before I go!But what I want to know is, if this is an illegal practice, why are they getting away with it? GDC says they will prosecute people doing this but I did a google search on whitening and the company's link came up before any dentists (as well as similar other companies). Surely its not that hard to track them down!? This company apparently has over 60 branches in the UK!!How can they get away with this?0

Thanks all for your comments.
Def don't want to do the salon whitening no matter how much cheaper, think the only people who can do anything to your teeth safely is a dentist.
Just don't fancy doing the diy from the dentist as I would forget or give up after a short while ... I suppose I am looking for instant whiteness
Suppose you get nothing you want without a bit of effort so will check out my dentist and the surrounding ones.
