If he isn't, you're in debt. If he is, you're going to be seriously in his debt.

Of course he's paying for it (thankfully).

I don't think she should feel in his debt. He is choosing to do this. It's the way nice people behave in a relationship instead of a tit for tat approach. I think he's delighted to be helping her out (financially and otherwise), although I can see how some people might think it's on the generous side so early on. He is generous. And without knowing his financial circumstances, he can probably more than afford it. But that's not to say anyone should take advantage of someone's good nature; I'm sure Taye will be very appreciative.

It's £106 he's spending, i did REALLY REALLY argue the point, but he just insisted and refused to take no for an answer. just kept insisting that it was no big deal and that he wanted to help.... still feel bad though :( im used to muddling though and i don't like feeling like a charity case.

Taye, it's a lot of money to you (& to many others) but I doubt it is to him, contractors can earn £250+ a day! (some considerably more)

Anyhow, I think you have to look at the spirit in which it's offered, he knows your circumstances & wants to help you, not because your a "charity case" but because he likes you & wants to help you with your project.
Thanks to all who post comps :A :T

I interpreted 'couple' as excluding all others, sounds like I got that wrong.
£106 isn't a vast amount of money it's true, but I'm just wondering how many raised beds he thinks you need 'cos a turfcutter and rotovator would be just the thing for a lottie - maybe you have a large garden. Which you might need as unless he's hired a skip as well you'll need space for the dug up turf.
Anyways...........if you're comfy with him doing his thing, get him to pay for the railway sleepers or bricks or boards and the topsoil and their installation whilst he's still keen. Might as well flog a willing horse whilst he isn't working.

ah well, hope it all works out as it should.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

    What a horrible insinuation!

Taye isn't "flogging" any kind of horse! Dave is a grown man who has OFFERED to help out a lady he likes!

Contractors are well used to downtime between jobs, the sensible ones keep some months worth of salary in savings aside to allow for said downtime.

Why do you have such a problem with this?

What makes you say that? I don't think you got it wrong. AFAIK there was no mention of non-exclusive dating.

In the UK, as opposed to the US where I believe they often clarify the situation, particularly during their academic years, it is assumed that being a couple is exclusive.

Some people preferring giving to receiving. It makes them happy so just let him get on with it. £106 to one person seems like a lot of money. To others its just loose change.

You are not a charity case and he is just trying to impress you. Let him do it.
