Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

This is my third port of call after switching on the laptop today...I am guessing that the date was fab and that Taye has realised that despite all her perceived baggage that she is entitled to a life, have fun and be happy.

I'm only 24 and have just come out of quite a long relationship and even when you're young like me you worry you won't meet anyone etc. (I never go out either!) so I'm really chuffed with this thread, it's given me hope there is someone lovely out there for all of us. :)

There is someone for everyone, in my book. I think that I simply learnt to hone my radar, and tried to ensure I chose a lovely person. For me, the main criteria had to be that whoever I chose to be with next, had to like me just as I was. My BF has allowed me to be true to myself, and he loves me all the more for it. Likewise, I fell in love with him for the same reasons. Neither of us has much £, but we just enjoy spending time together. We make each other laugh, respect one another, and hold each other in high regard. That allows us both to feel good about ourselves, whilst enjoying sharing life together.

I was your age when I met my husband, and had he not had his own, overriding issues, our marriage would have lasted longer than the 14yrs it lasted. The 6yrs I've been with my BF have flown by, and it still feels so fresh, and I don't doubt that we'll spend the rest of our days together, god willing!

Taye - I hope your picnic was thoroughly enjoyable, and has given you both the opportunity to chat more, and get to know each other better. As Quakers said before, regardless of what happens now, you've made the first step in moving forward, and recognising you are entitled to have a future for yourself, as well as for your boys. I have 4 boys, and the role that a positive, male influence can have has untold benefits. If I were to use my first long term relationship as the rule of thumb for all others I've had, I'd have been very unhappy. We experience the negative things, to ensure we learn the lessons necessary to make a better choice in the future.

Hope all went well Taye and hopefully you're not updating because you're having a jolly good bank holiday weekend!!
