I am shocked by some of the responses on this thread. Everyone knows which ones i mean because they go against the whole ethos of this site. Unless you are prepared to be helpful and non judgmental (which is what Martin wanted this site to be) then don't bother commenting at all.
I do not understand why those who have money in the bank have to be so cruel to those on the site who have found themselves in debt. It does not mean to say that a debtor is a bad person, or deserves "idiot of the month" title. Shame on you!
What happened to freedom of speech?
As soon as somebody post's a statement that conflicts with the OP, this raises debate, people begin to think out of the box so to speak, what you are implying is that you must meet certain pre-requisites before speaking your mind e.g. I must hate banks and finance houses, I must follow the digital pied piper and sing to his tune, I must think it is ok to mis-manage my finances then blame it on somebody else, I am a victim, I was not responsible.
What ever. :rolleyes:Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -

I don't have vast sums of money in the bank, i am on benefits & i make sure there will be enough to pay my credit card DD's well in advance so that i don't get fined. The point i made before was pretty much that i can manage my finances sensibly without a pot to pi$$ in. I still think the OP just sails too close to the wind by arranging DD's only 1 day after being paid.
Does that make me judgemental or just sensible with my finances?0 -
How is it being helpful Proliant?
Martin says this site is for "help" not judgement. Calling someone an "idiot of the month" when you have no knowledge of someone's personal circumstances is frankly deplorable.
This is not about whether or not free speech is allowed, criticism is one thing, that comment went way beyond that and was unnecessary.

So what would you prefer we say to the OP under the circumstances?0

Now you are just being provocative. I have no doubt i can identify a few people who deserve the title "idiots of the month".
Go and bother someone else.

All he wanted was to ask for some advice - not to be shot down because there are some complications that some don't agree with. I'm sure you've all been there yourselves. We all handle our cash flows/debts/salaries etc in our own ways and they are own decisions for whatever reasons. If that works for him then brill. Just remember why these forums are up and running and if everyone was as rude as some of the responses I've seen then we'd be worse off.

I just asked you a simple question. Who is bothering anyone? Do you not think that a lot of people would think the OP's situation was easily preventable? I personally thought it was. If you manage your finances so tightly so as not to allow for even a day late then you need to be on the ball 100% so that you don't get caught out.
Is that too provocative for you?0 -
Hi Gianni
Sorry you seem to have had a baptism of fire with your 1st post. It's terrible being human and making mistakes isn't it?
There are lots of friendly threads around, so don't be disheartened. I tend to be on the Payment a Day thread that Dankosheemo mentioned. Feel free to pop along if you want to. You'll find the thread here.
Hope you manage to get things sortedOne step at a time0 -
