Broadspeed will sell you a new 09 pre-reg one for £10011

Must be worth an extra £12 for a brand new 09 car than used 08 one?

I'll be looking there if they are in the scheme, a similar spec is still around £12K, and a diesel £12 and a half, but still good.
(Oddly enough, our local dealer is £700 cheaper for a new peugeot 107, if I go mad and swop the wife's car instead)

I guess this rules out the up to 1 year old theory.

    The new vehicle
The new vehicle you want to buy must be:
    • a car or small van weighing up to 3,500 kg
    • first registered in the UK on or after mid May 2009
    • declared new at first registration in the UK with no former keepers

How to take advantage of the vehicle discount scheme

Contact your local dealer to see if they have joined the vehicle discount scheme. They will check that your vehicle and the new vehicle you want to buy both meet the rules of the scheme. When the sale is agreed, the dealer will sort out the paperwork and arrange for your vehicle to be scrapped.
The discount is deducted from the price you pay for the new vehicle and will be shown on your invoice when you take delivery of your new vehicle.

The rules of the vehicle discount scheme

The vehicle you trade in and the new vehicle you want to buy must meet certain conditions for you to be able to get the discount.
    Your vehicle

The vehicle you are trading in must:
    • be a car or small van weighing up to 3,500 kilograms (kg)
    • be first registered in the United Kingdom (UK) on or before 31 July 1999
    • either be registered or have a SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in your name
    • have been registered to you continuously for 12 calendar months before the order date of the new vehicle
    • have a UK address on the registration certificate (V5C)
    • have a current MOT test certificate before date of order for the new vehicle
    The new vehicle

The new vehicle you want to buy must be:
    • a car or small van weighing up to 3,500 kg
    • first registered in the UK on or after mid May 2009
    • declared new at first registration in the UK with no former keepers
Edit:- Is scrappage a word ?

Many dealers and discounters register the cars with themselves first as a way to secure their bulk purchase and sales quota/discount qualifications. The fact that these huge current pre-registered stocks are excluded from the £2k offer is going to cause mayhem!

You can all forget using the likes of broadspeed to net a bargain.

You can only use this at main dealer. Give them a ring to find out.

i was expecting a green element to this, like only cars in tax band a or b.
fair play though they arent dressing it up as a green issue, its an economy issue.

How many cars can you scrap to buy one car?

As many as you like, but since its a £2000 discount (half government, half manufacturer) off the new car price; thats all you will get £2000 ;)
