Where have you got this from?
I was hoping for some sort of voucher so I could scrap now and buy later MOT runs out on the 7th!0 -
Thats a shame, we have 2 or 3 qualifying vehicles which would have morphed into one good one. Oh Well, it was a nice dream.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

its a nonsense scheme, any mug can walk in a get a 2k discount plus money for their old car0

It really is a con. Am I right in believing it is really a £1,000 scheme. £1,000 from the government and £1,000 from the dealer. The £1,000 from the dealer would probably have been available anyway. How many offers from dealers have suddenly been withdrawn ?
What a waste of taxpayers money.
Incidentally I have an 11 year old Volvo 940 Celebration Estate and a 10 year old Mondeo. Both low mileage and fantastic cars. Far too good to scrap.Mortgage free

I wonder if the German scheme that this UK one is based on was a more honest one (ie a genuine 2000 Euro Govt subsidy).
Still, this Govts Green policy is so clever, my 11 year old banger will qualify for £2000 off one of these:

What about this;

A New car for a potential 2.5k?! Dependent on Perodua joining in with the scheme of course!
I would buy it for that price.0 -

You would get a percentage, but not at the bottom end of the market, a Panda 1.1 though, (I am sure Fiat will be forced to join), comes down from £7095 to £5095 - target price at the moment is £5886.
My big dilemma is, what is a pre reg / 1 year old car / 2 year old car now worth? Has the used market just lost £800ish per car?Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

I hope you are right. I would buy it too. I only drive 14 miles a day to work and back so I could stand the fact that it is very basic.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

Manufacturers will surely just put prices up right? On base spec small cars they won't make much money if they have to 'lose' £1000 profit. Bet they'll add £1.5k to list price!0
