Jeans are fine as long as they are smart ones, long pants for men is a must for evenings. I can't remember what type of mosquito repellent we got, MIL had some so we stole that! It didn't work either way, I got bitten 16 times in one night! You can pay on credit card, they don't have chip and pin you sign for it.
No conditioner in the room, I would take your own because it's not the best quality stuff that they have in there.
Take dollars, not pesos, you get your change in all sorts of currency but all prices are in dollars.
The restaurants are fab, gave my OH a sushi addiction which he still hasn't managed to shake! We took £500 spends, that paid for 3 fishing trips for OH, a trip to Xel Ha for both of us, a shopping trip and some other bits and bobs and tips.
The mexican airport staff are very very strict on luggage allowance and charge an absolute fortune for excess baggage, so bear this in mind if you want to bring anything back.
Can't remember if I mentioned Xel Ha, it's definitely a must go trip-buy some eco friendly sunscreen over here before you go because they hold you to ransom on the gate for it! http://www.xelha.com/ have a look, it's beautiful.
Can't think of anything else, but let me know if there's any more questions!Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0 -
Now that I have sorted winter holiday I am looking at 2 weeks in Antigua for June 2010. Anyone been there and have any recommendations?
I've looked on the Virgin website and found Cocobay with the amazing Infinity pool overlooking the sea but that month the other restaurant there is closed leaving only one restaurant and one bar. The other bar is not included as part of the all inclusive and you have to pay extra. The pool does look amazing though and good reports on trip advisor.

Maybe I should wait until we get to the airport and ask before I buy one..
I don't know what to wear for the flight as don't know how hot it will be when we reach there - flight leaves Gatwick at approx 9am..
princessamy86 - we are going there after reading your recommendation on this very thread so thank you!

Hi summer sounds fab..have a great time..we were like this when deciding so have booked a cruise to go round the Carribean so we can do loads of places..sooo excited! we go in about 5 weeks :j..dreading the mosquitos but hopefully wont be too bad!0

Didn't go to cocobongos but I will when we go next year! You'll have a great time, wear a hoodie, t shirt or strappt and some linen pants on the plane it will be hot hot hot when you get off! Was like a wall of heat when we came out of the airport. Make sure you get some water for when you go on the bus. We really fancied chichen itza, but didn't go as it was so far. I wouldn't have minded if it was just a minibus straight from the hotel but the coaches seem to stop at every hotel on the way there, so if you can get on a smaller trip that might be best. Go to Xel Ha it's brilliant! Hope you have a fab time, I'm very jealous!Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0
