Did you go to Xel Ha yourself or with a tour/organised trip? Thanks for tip re water! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Went with an organised trip but it was really just the coach there and back. It's all inclusive while you're there, when we go next year I'm going to get a taxi because it's not far from the hotel and you don't have an hour picking other people up.Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0

That sounds like a much better plan, you save some of your own time and also you can get there and leave when you please. What's all inclusive when you get there? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Hi all :hello:
I'm just back from Mexico and can say that I had the best time, thanks for all your recommendations..
We didn't get to Chichen Itza or Coco Bongos, but did go to Coba, Tulum and Playa Del Carmen.
Weather was perfect, AI option was great as it was our first time we've done this... the food was a little hit and miss so not sure I would return to this hotel again as there are so many to chose from in Mexico..
It's so cold here
Merry Christmas all and thanks again for top advise :xmassmile:xmassmile
p.s. am planning my next holiday now - not sure where, possibly Kenya - has anyone been??This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Having been to Jamaica twice, Cuba, Antigua and St Lucia....my favourite is Antigua. The others are great in their own ways but Antigua is by far the best all rounder
Hello!
I have my other half persueded into Antigua for June 2010 but I'm having Resort choice difficulty! Had originally chosen Coco Bay with its gorgeous infinity pool perched on a clifftop but when I read further I found out that there was only one all inclusive restaurant and the second one (which you pay for) is closed in June anyway. Plus the cottages that you stay in don't have air con which would just be too much without it!
Can you recommend any resorts? Other half and I like to laze on a resort but additionally like to get out and about a bit in the local towns, perhaps see a few touristy bits without letting it become a military operation of constant activities and once or twice go off resort to a few bars in the evening!
Anyone have any recommendations or ideas?

P.S Just back from Cape Verde and if you like doing ANY of the above it is not for you - there is NOTHING there at all but beach!!Quit Smoking 12 years 2 months.0 -
EDSS does look great but the only thing that puts me off is the brochure says transfer time appox 1hr 30mins. After traveling 10 to 11 hrs on the plane do not think i can face another long journey on the bus. Stayed at Excellence Riviera Cancun in Puerto Morelos this year and only took 20mins bus journey.
Chatbug, the transfer there was 3hrs!!! It was way too long.. On way back it was about 1hr30mins so for this reason next time we'll go to a hotel much nearer.
Who did you book Excellence Riviera Cancun through? I'm thinking on going again between March-May 2010 but need to look at what the weather is like there then. When we were there a few weeks ago, it was lovely weather - not roasting hot, comfortable to be out in.. Will need to avoid easter holidays and spring break though!
Also the food on first choice plane was so awful I couldn't eat it even though I was hungry, it's the worst plane food ever
Mexico was amazing thoughThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I've not been to Antigua, can't offer any advise but had to post and say I've very jealous you've had two holidays since this thread started
Hope you enjoyed Cape Verde, was the food good and did you go for a week or two? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Hi Summer,
Went for 2 weeks! The bonus of Cape Verde is that you get proper hot winter sun without having to pay the inflated prices that are the Indian Ocean! Plus only 6 hours flying time!
Resort was amazing but literally there was nothing else apart from that resort on the whole island - one tiny town and a ship wreck! Food was consistently good throughout! The specialist restaurants were 3 buffet style which was exactly what the main restaurant was so not really anything different!
To surmise, don't regret it but wouldn't return! XQuit Smoking 12 years 2 months.0 -

Glad you had a fab holiday and love Mexico. Bet you wish you were still there, better weather than we are getting at the moment.
We booked with Thomas Cook the last time we went, main reason was because the food was awful on Thomson.
2008 went in March nice temp. This year went late April much hotter, but just went in the sea and pool to cool off.0 -
Here are my thoughts after many travels in the Caribbean:
St Maarten - my utter fav
St Thomas - stunning and cant wait to go back again newxt year
Grand Cayman - would return like a shot
Jamaica - never again, personally hated it
St Lucia - outside the tourist areas it is incredibly poor and was a real shocker, same with Antigua
Aruba - beautiful island
Curacao - lovely but not my idea of paradise
St Croix - not much to do there
Barbados - really friendly
If you have any specific questions let me know x0
